I’ve had a chance to use this once and I’m absolutely impressed with the buffing power and quality as well as the dual action, which is wider than almost every other polisher of this design on Amazon- and the price point with or without the additional discount is absolutely worth it. Polishes seamlessly as long as you know what you’re doing. Go side to side and up and down four times while not applying pressure as it rests on your vehicle. You only need to guide the buffer, overlapping by 50% as you go. Watch Your Tube videos by finding experts in the field to get tips regarding how not to add too much, to moisten pads before applying product, to not press down on the polisher or use too many RPMs, and to never swirl around the budding in circles - you can easily see who has a handle on what they’re doing, even when it comes to product demonstrations by reviewers or manufacturers.I’m removing the waxes on my vehicle and applying a graphene ceramic coating which will mean no waxing or car washes, as well as periodic graphene spray for maintenance that should last for the five years that I plan to keep the SUV.I also purchased a Makita style battery which will keep me going well past a complete buffing of my Telluride but while the Makitas work on the buffer, the charger that came with it does NOT charge Makita batteries. You might consider buying a charger designed for 18V Makita batteries if you so choose. It’s great that I can easily switch between rotation and dual action, and I’ll never return to using cords since the cordless function is boss. I thought that I’d want to use the handle attachment - but upon using it, the handle actually made things more cumbersome.I also got a $16 case to hold the buffer, pads, a smaller 3” polisher and pads for that as well. This is well worth the money. Take your time, study how to properly use it so that it works for you instead of you fighting it.

I don't normally write reviews but felt I needed to, just buy it, tool feels high quality and the battery has dmegc 20amp cells which are higher quality for Chinese cells, pack weighs the same 23ounce as the Makita 6.0. mellif pack works in Makita tools, won't charge in Makita charger nor will Makita batteries charge in mellif charger but it comes with a charger.

I have been looking for a cordless random orbit buffer/polisher. When I saw this Mellif unit on Amazon, I decided to get it. I have a Mellif cordless 4 ½-inch angle grinder, and I use it quite frequently. Like the buffer/polisher, my grinder is a brushless tool and it has always worked very well for me with excellent battery life. My Mellif tools both use the Makita 18v battery platform, which is a big plus for me. I have several Makita 18v tools and lots of batteries for them. Being able to use batteries that I already have is very helpful for me.Interestingly, this buffer/polisher includes a Mellif battery and charger. When I first tried out this unit, I used the Mellif battery and it worked just fine. I also used a Makita battery to power it without problem. Note that the Mellif battery will not work in a Makita tool. Nor will the Mellif charger work with a Makita battery. This is not a criticism from my perspective. As long as the Makita batteries work in the Mellif tools, I am good. After installing the handle that was included, I tried out the buffer on the hood of my 2007 Mustang GT. This car sits outside all the time and it has been a while since any polish had been applied, so it was a good test for the unit. I had never used a tool like this, so it took me a few tries to get the right buffer speed and rhythm going to get the results I was seeking. But, in the end, the tool did a good job and I had a much better-looking hood when I was done.Included with the tool is an additional eccentric gear along with tools needed to change it. This gear changes the orbit on the pad from the standard 15mm to 21mm. The Amazon description for this product had a video that shows how to change the eccentric. However, I could not find anything in the description or the printed manual that came with the tool that explains why you would use one eccentric instead of the other. So, I just used the one that was already installed. The Mellif tools seem to be well made, especially for the price, which is significantly lower than Makita’s version of the same tool. The brushless technology is a bonus and I expect this tool will hold up well over the long haul.

This buffer does a good job of removing surface conditions that cause dull/faded finishes. I tested it on a metal cabinet I bought at an industrial auction that had been in a highly corrosive/chemical environment for years. There was a sign on the door and the finish under that area was still pretty good while the rest of the cabinet was dull and discolored from all the chemical exposure. After just a few minutes of buffing with this I was able to bring the finish back to life! This buffer includes 1 battery, a charger, and tools to replace the head and install a throwing orbit block (if you want to change out the motion from random orbit - I did not test this). I've read that buffers and some other power tools can go through batteries quickly so I'm happy that it is compatible with other tools that I have batteries for so I have spare batteries available. In my use this didn't seem to go through the batteries that quickly but time and larger projects could change my opinion on that. I think the benefits of not having cords or hoses dangling over your recently buffed finish make battery powered tools a good choice and worth the downsides of potential battery longevity issues. The controls of this buffer are easy to use and make sense in how they're set up - a trigger to engage the buffer with a button to hold the trigger for use on larger jobs. The buffer comes with a handle that is not installed and I didn't install that, yet, because I liked how it feels buffing with the palm grip that is formed into the head of the buffer.
