All the better LP cleaning devices use a similar approach: cleaning fluid and and application "mobilizes" the muck in the grooves, and the vacuum system removes all these. This is shockingly effective as compared to a record brush. The problem is, usually it is quite expensive. The record doctor offers the same method as the much-more-expensive machines, at a reasonable price. As the owner of a 15 year old Nitty Gritty machine, still working fine, I have to say that compared to this, the record doctor is more compact, quieter (though still loud), and highly recommended.Do also pick up the cover, which is a small add-on item. A dirty cleaning device is not as helpful as a clean one. :-)

I primarily purchased this cover to keep the dust off my RDVI. Makes sense, right? You’re trying to keep your vinyl in its best possible condition and free from dust. The cover is well put together. Looks like it will hold up well. It fits the rcm well.My one caveat is the appearance. In a word, it’s kind of tacky. I find the silver seam work and the LARGE script “Rx Doctor” on both sides unattractive and annoying. Would love to have an all black with no (or much smaller) lettering.Hence, 4 out of 5

Works as advertised. It would be nice if it were a little larger at the base to facilitate installation over the machine.

I would recommend this for dust protection and it makes your record cleaner look more presentable .People complain about the cover being too tight but it’s fine and It fits perfectly with a nice feel to it .

This cover is very good, protects the machine, specially the micro fiber cleaning pad that goes in contact with the record, from dust. It also has a opening for the electrical cord, if you chose to leave it connected. In my opinion it is a must for the Record Doctor's machine owners.

While this cover for the Record Doctor V is made with a soft leather outer, nicely trimmed with silver piping and lettering and a soft suede inner, I found that it is too tight a fit to easily slide over and down the RCM. It looks really nice once it's on, but is a bit too soft to fumble with if you need to take it on and off constantly. It is fine if you only want to clean vinyl in a lump, maybe every couple days, and put back on while it sits until your next cleaning session. Personally, I would've preferred a clear plastic lid, something similar to a dust cover for a turntable. The actual machine is really nice and works as well as a more expensive record cleaning machine. I just wouldn't buy the cover again. But don't let the cover keep anyone from buying the RCM itself.

I forgot all about the sticker shock when I covered my Record Doctor V with it. It's well made, looks good, and should hold up as long as the machine itself. Recommended for neat freaks and vinyl lovers alike.

Overpriced? Yes. Could you make your own dust cover with a similar result? Yes. For the quality and convenience though, I still think it's a good deal. The Record Doctor V is such a fantastic bargain that I found it easy to justify spending an extra $20 for its official dust cover. I wouldn't recommend buying it without one.
