This works as advertised, but yeah. Some simply foam to cushion the bass drum hoop from the metal clamping surface would have made it a much better item. I’m still using it, but yes, I made sure to get some simple foam pieces first.

This is a good clamp for mounting a cowbell to the bass drum hoop however the clamp does not offer any padding or soft grip. This will over time start damaging the bass drum hoop.

Good entry level clamp for a cowbell. There is no cushion like others have said. Works as intended and easy to install - just use a bit of foam tape to protect the drum.

I have a 16” bass drum on a travel kit. I thought I wanted to try and add a cowbell mount on the hoop to test it out on my kit with a little cha cha bell. Works great mounting was easy and offers a sturdy mounting point.

Despite the pictures for this product, there was no kind of protective material on the clamp meant to attach to the kick drum hoop. It was just bare metal, which I was not keen to clamp on to a wooden hoop. Fortunately I had some adhesive rubber pads meant for another product that I was not going to use, so I trimmed them to fit the clamp. Once it was installed, the whole clamp would tilt and vibrate with every strike to the cowbell, despite how much I tightened the clamp. I figure some movement would happen--after all, I'm hitting the thing--but it still felt a bit disconcerting. It held up through some hard playing, and the screw on the clamp felt tight--and I kept checking because I wanted to see if I could reduce the vibration on the drum hoop--but it functions as a piece of metal to hold a cowbell.

Full disclosure: I am not a drummerI have a drum kit in my music room to make it easier on my bandmate and so there's always drums around for jamming. I got this cowbell holder because my drummer uses a clamped on cowbell, and this would allow him to not have to bring his clamp back and forth from his home kit. It does the job and holds the cowbell.
