Product Description

Original Design, still made in the USA

Safe for Extended Use

CravenSpeed designed and championed the 2 piece supercharger pulley in 2005. Our work has been copied hundreds of times, but never matched. The same expert machinists have been making our pulleys for years and ensuring that each one meets our high standards of quality. Smooth, form fitting teeth on your pulley take longer to machine but are worth the extra time. Our pulleys will neither eat nor throw your belt. You can be confident your belt will last long, and run quietly. We do recommend using a slightly smaller belt with these reduction pulleys, we offer the Gates FleetRunner belt. Refer to the guide if you aren't sure whether you need a belt or not.

1,2,3 More Go

  • Belt spins smaller pulley faster
  • More Spin = More Boost
  • More Boost = Faster Acceleration

15% or 17%?

If both sizes are safe for your supercharger, then which one should you choose? The supercharger is only creating boost under acceleration, on a normal or even a spirited drive this is only occasional. However, at the track or an autocross event acceleration is sustained and frequent. If you use your MINI for these types of events it is better to use the 15% reduction. This is because the 17% pulley causes the supercharger to heat more rapidly and the warm air begins to negate the positive effects of the extra PSI earlier in the band.

Fitment

This pulley will work on all supercharged MINI models. If you have a JCW, that model starts with a smaller pulley than the standard ‘S’ model but both of these options are still slightly smaller than that one. Although this two part pulley is self-centering to help ease installation you may still want to check our dealer finder for a CravenSpeed Authorized Installer near you. If you plan on wrenching on your own, make sure you have a puller designed to remove the MINI's press-fit OEM pulley. Our quick puller allows you to remove the OEM pulley without removing the tensioner and is available for either the S or JCW sized pulleys.

Item works great. Car is much quicker now. Installation was actually not very difficult. Use the removal tool to remove the old one. But a nice upgrade no doubt. Lots of videos online when it’s time for installation.

Great quality, the hard part was getting the old one off, however this is a worthwhile mod with a believable 20 odd Hp increase

I purchased this pulley as a way to make gains on my R53. It did the job but put up a fight to get there. The lack of information and instructions on properly seating the pulley causes misalignment issues that resulted in shredded serpentine belts. I had to take the belt and tensioner to measure the alignment between the supercharger and the alternator to track down the issue. Also be sure to get the colder plugs definitely a need.

I installed this on my 2008 r52 Convertible with an automatic transmission. Search on YouTube for the instruction video from Mod MINI. Also you WILL need the pulley puller that they sell! This looks intimidating to install but if you watch that video and follow step by step you'll be fine. I almost returned this because the install looked out of my depth but I needed to install a new belt tensioner so figured that while I was doing that, I might as well do this since it's really only a few more minor steps. I am REALLY glad that I made that decision! This thing really wakes up your ride! I was easily tripping the traction control and the sound of the supercharger is AMAZING!Combined with their lightweight crank pulley, this is definitely a mod worth installing!

Extremely well made. It is one of the best pulleys I have ever felt. In case you didn't know what you are looking at, this is a reduction pulley for the Mini Cooper S supercharger. It is claimed to add 15-20 whp and after installation, I believe it. The tapered design makes it extremely easy to go on (getting the old one off is a little difficult). This is a great pulley at a decent price. One thing I want to note, if you are doing this mod, it is extremely recommeded to get a colder spark plug:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B6VUQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Also, I would strongly recommend using the designated puller even if it is costly:https://www.amazon.com/Cravenspeed-Quick-Puller-Pulley-removal/dp/B00X4MUJ2K/ref=sr_1_15?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1469471858&sr=1-15&keywords=cravenspeed

This pulley is beautiful. Very high end craftsmanship with no sharp edges and Cravenspeed logo etched in. Packaged very nicely with padding to avoid scratching. Performs wonderfully on my Mini R53. The only thing is the pulley has 4 hex bolts and the online instructions refer to 3 hex bolts that need to be tightened to 85lbs torque. Seemed kinda high to me so I only used about 40lbs torque. Working fine. No slippage. Remember to get the right belt size for your upgraded pulley otherwise your stock belt will be slipping.
