I find this product very good and very accurate at reproducing real smoke. I like to test my detectors once in a while because otherwise what’s the point I have tested this product against using real smoke and find it to be nearly identical.

I needed to test all of our smoke detectors in the house and didn't want to use actual fire and smoke to test each one or use a ladder to press the test button. This can of spray smoke was convenient and worked exactly as desired. The smoke triggered the alarm for about 10 seconds, then the alarm shut off. The smoke doesn't linger or smell bad. It just kind of disappears pretty quickly.

Good range when dispensing product. Of course, it's intended primarily for use in testing fire alarm sensors. I used it for a slightly different purpose - tracking airflow in an attic. It worked pretty decently for my purpose as well!

I'm pleased to have purchased this product that satisfactorily tests smoke detectors if used as directed. However the image of smoke on the can is misleading. There is no visually evident smoke but rather the can sprays a light mist of colourless particles that quickly vapourize. After discovering how well a 13-year old smoke alarm worked, I retrieved others that were about to go to e-waste due to having been replaced when 10-years old. These also were found to be as functional as the new units that replaced them. I now assume that if smoke alarm sensors are clean, they may function satisfactorily well beyond the stand recommended 10-year replacement period.

Not only did this not work, there was just as much cold fluid that came out as there was any smoke, and as the exiting fluid (not smoke) expanded, it literally froze my fingertip for 15 minutes. Nowhere in the instructions did it say to wear gloves . Instructions also state the fluid is incredibly flammable, an eye irritant and USE OUTDOORS ONLY, which makes no sense when smoke detectors are mounted on ceilings inside the home. This is just a bad idea altogether, I lit a candle and blew it out and was able to successfully test the smoke detector for much less than $22 for this can of danger. Also it turns out being flammable, the item is non-returnable with Amazon so I was given no option to get any credit for this waste of money. Cmon man!!!! Don’t waste your money on something as dangerous and ineffective as this…

I don't trust the test buttons on smoke detectors. All it tests if the siren and battery works, but doesn't test if it can actually detect smoke. I didn't know this stuff existed until I saw a professional fire company working in my building and using this to test with. I bought a can of this to test my mother's smoke alarms. She lives alone and things such as that concern me. I actually bought her some new dual sensor smoke alarms and used this to test each one of them. You don't have to get super close or use a lot of spray. I actually feel better knowing her smoke alarms actually work. (Yes, I also tested mine.)

I just got this and we tested our 7 smoke alarms. They are hard wired together. The first one went off but none of the others did anything. They are 14 years old almost. The one that went off wasn't very loud. I have set off the smoke alarms in the past due to smokey oven and I know they were louder, much louder. I totally think this was a good purchase. Time to replace! Past time actually....I need to edit my review just to add, tried the test again and made sure to do 2 or 3 seconds counting 1001, 1002 and by golly they did go off, loud and all (hard wired) went off so we know they work even though they should be replaced after 10 years.
