Bought these seeds to put in a low-shade lawn in the PNW. I didn't want to wait for fall, so we decided to see if we could establish in the spring when the rain was on our side and most weeds hadn't yet sprouted. I waited for what was likely the last freeze of the year (mid Feb) before proceeding, though our actual last freeze date on paper is in early April. If there was set to be a freeze prior to the first few days after sprouting, I would have tarped the area. And worst case scenario, I would have reseeded at a more responsible date. (Luckily the weather has cooperated and that was not necessary.)As far as prep goes, I hand-pulled all of the weeds, tilled our construction-grade backyard clay (ha) and raked in some steer manure and top soil from the local farm store on top. Once the ground was prepped, I hand-spread the seeds and patted them into the soil with the back of a plastic rake. On days where it didn't rain, I watered it for 5 minutes in the morning and again at night. It took almost 21 days to sprout, which makes sense to me since light is scarce and we've seen overnight temperatures around 36-39 degrees on some nights. Overall I'd say we're seeing a good germination ratio, and in the last few days we've gotten about 1mm growth per day. I'll probably reseed in the fall with the same bag to up the density. In retrospect, I probably should have done some herbicide a couple of weeks before sewing this seed mix, but luckily hand-pulling is working out.You can see in the picture that we have a retaining wall that blocks a lot of light. Our neighbors have had little success with germinating traditional lawn mixes, even those with "shade" on the label. Overall, this mix seems to be performing unusually well for our neighbors with the same wall, even in the early stages. Will update in the fall.

Was a fail for me. I saw very few sprout. I planted on top of soil covered with potting siol just enough to cover seeds. Lightly watered every morning .

Quickly grows thick, lush grass. Best seed I have ever used for lawns in the northeast

Spot planted this summer during a drought. Not all area grew (about 50%). The ones that did grow looked good and has started to fill in. I think failures were caused by drought and failure to water enough. Grass is nice green color.

This is how the grass looks now after a few weeks this is the first one I’ve ever planted and I’m so pleased with the quality and color of this grass. There were a few bare spots so I bought another 1 lb bag. I don’t think we’re going to mow it either we’re thinking of leaving it long. We used 3 pounds total. Highly recommended.

Purchased this upon the recommendation of our lawn service. It was to go into a semi shaded spot, with sun 4-5 hrs per day in the A.M., dappled sun in the P.M. Overseeded heavily and raked in. Watered for 15 days, twice a day, to keep moist. Very little germination. Maybe at most 10% of what was spread. (There was NO pre-emergence herbicide on the lawn.) I was disappointed, but will try again in the fall, when conditions are cooler and there is more rain. This was applied in Southern Missouri, USA.
