Hitch fit great. Box it came in didn't hold up well, but I didn't buy it for the cardboard. Instructions are okay, but you can honestly get by without them just lining it up. Only problem I had was that the holes in the frame on the passenger side of my car were too rusty for the bolts to thread. Wire brush, brake cleaner, and some elbow grease and they worked fine. Haven't pulled anything yet, but it seems solid.

installed on a 2017 rav4, fit great, note: you will need to cut a piece off of the plastic pannel once putting it back together,if your vehicle is older or rusted you'll need a M12x1.25 thread tap and some sort of penetrating oil(WD-40 did the trick)overall great product

Ordered this hitch after the dealership quoted me $1800 for one of theirs. It is a perfect fit and takes just 4 bolts to put on. It was an easy job, save for the rusted bolt holes in my car. Get yourself some wire brushes for a drill and clean out those rusty bolt holes before you start. On an SUV it's an easy job, don't even need a jack or ramps. On a passenger car it would be a bit harder. Great item!

After getting expensive quotations from local shops to supply & install a trailer hitch, I found this gem on Amazon. Straight from CURT, very solid, made to fit my vehicle, with clear instructions. They also have videos online that make it even more clear. Now, the instructions say it should take something ridiculous like 15 minutes to install. Yes, maybe if you've done 20 of them already and have a professional maintenance shop with a hydraulic lift and air tools. If it's your first (and maybe only?) time doing this, and you are working in your unheated garage in Northern Ontario, in the winter, lying on the floor with some wheel ramps as your "lift", and suspect lighting conditions, it will probably take you longer. In my case, a couple of hours longer. But it all went according to the directions, everything fit perfectly, I didn't end up with any "spare" parts that I wasn't supposed to have, and the hitch is solid as a rock. I recommend a good 1/2" drive ratchet set with extensions, plus a torque wrench, plus some penetrant liquid to help loosen the old bolts from the frame. And also a small steel brush for cleaning out the threads of the open holes on the frame that the bolts will be designed to fit into. (the instructions suggest a rotary tool with a steel brush fitting - something I didn't have). And safety glasses or goggles to keep the rust and dust out of your eyes while you are laying on your back looking up at the bottom of your vehicle during the process.

Installed the Curt 13149 trailer hitch on my 2017 RAV4. Installation was easy and quick as long as you have the right tools. I would suggest a 1/2" socket wrench with a 8"-10" extension, 17mm socket to remove the bolts holding the tie down bracket, 19mm socket to install the hitch (bolt included), medium slotted screwdriver and 10mm socket to remove the trim panel covering the tie down bracket, silicone spray to lubricate the bolt/nut threads and to lubricate the rear muffler isolator, and channel locks to disengage the muffler from the isolator to make the hitch easier to install. The channel locks works well in disengaging the muffler from the rubber isolator if you don't have the special tool. I would suggest a 1/2" socket wrench as it is easier to remove and install the bolts over using a smaller 3/8" socket wrench with less leverage.I installed this without another person helping but it would have been easier with another pair of hands to hold the hitch up while installing the bolts. Unfortunately my teenage son was out with his friends and unavailable. Instead I used two cardboard boxes about 8" x 10" x 12" to raise the hitch to install the bolts without much sweat or muscle needed. It took me 25 minutes for the install. If I had to do it again, it would only take about 10-15 minutes.Once installed, the hitch hitch design is a lower type profile so it looks great. Fit is excellent and the quality appears to be very good.As other reviewers have mentioned, the packing materials are not the best and mine arrived with one part of the hitch sticking through the box. Luckily there was only minor cosmetic damage which did not affect the installation. Overall, this Curt hitch gets and deserves 5 stars.

Its a CURT hitch, they are top quality, there is nothing I can say bad about the hitch itself. I give the hitch 5 stars but docked one for packaging, the packaging was a nightmare.Installed on a 2007 Rav4 Limited, Instillation was a breeze. 4 bolts and washers was all it took. To ease the process I set the hitch on two jack stands and had a helper hold the hitch to keep it from rotating. Once I started a bolt on each side it was a breeze. Hitch is very solid high quality, welds look solid, powder-coated black and wrapped in a few places with thick paper to keep it from scratching during shipment. The bolts were pretty good quality nothing special, they are bolts. I was pointed to this hitch from Rav4World forum members, they advised this hitch but had issues with packaging and received bent brackets because of the lack of packaging. I rolled the dice since its a prime item and has free returns in the event it was bent. Luckily it was in good shape and fit my Rav4 just fine. 10 min install, torque wrench required. Now the packaging, I docked the item a star because of this. Absolutely horrid, the box was ripped open in three places. Not small rips either. The hitch had zero packing inside the box so it moved all over during shipment and punched straight through the box. (see pics) The mounting brackets aren't exactly sharp but compared to cardboard they have no issue making holes fast. The pics are from right off the truck as soon as I set it down. Luckily the bolts are taped to the tongue of the hitch otherwise they would be gone. Even a little bit of styrofoam inside to keep the hitch from moving would have prevented this.

This is an excellent hitch. It is a solid build and fit right on to my 2009 Toyota Rav4 V6. It was a very easy install, even for a novice like me.The manufacturer includes all the necessary instructions and hardware. The instructions were very easy to use and understand, but if you need a little bit of extra help, YouTube has a plethora of material on this topic. In order to install the hitch you must remove the factory tow hook. (This process took the longest due to a thick aftermarket protective coating on the undercarriage on my vehicle) After that was off, it was very simple install. You do have to drop the muffler, but it is very easy if you lube up the rubber muffler carrier and use a 5/8" wrench and a screwdriver for leverage. (Those instructions were included from the manufacturer) It pops right off and out of your way in order to let you get to the bolt holes to install the hitch. From there, its just a matter of tightening 4 bolts to ~87lbs. Pop the muffler back on and you're good to go! The whole process, start to finish, took about 30 minutes. I am definitely a novice, so I think just about anybody with a wrench could handle this.My star rating is just for the product itself, as the packaging and shipping did some ridiculous damage. The first hitch I received was shipped without any protection whatsoever, just the shipping label stuck directly on the package itself. The powder coating was scraped badly, down to bare metal. I don't want a hitch that is going to turn into a rusted piece of junk after a year, so I filed for a replacement and let Amazon know about my dissatisfaction with the packing. A second one was shipped in a box with full protection and arrived in somewhat better condition, but still not perfect. I immediately attempted to install the second hitch, and to my extreme disappointment, the holes did not line up with the factory holes in my frame. I was too close to the date which I had to use the hitch to receive yet another replacement, so I spray painted the original hitch I received and installed it. This one lined up perfectly and took about 30 minutes to install. It was really, really simple.Overall, I would buy this hitch again. It is a solid build and I have no doubt it will last for years to come.
