About this item

  • SELF-RESETTING. This A-series 5th wheel hitch features a unique, ergonomic handle and extra-wide head to make coupling your 5th wheel trailer easier than ever. After uncoupling, the handle self-resets to the ready-to-couple position
  • FULL ARTICULATION. This 5th wheel hitch provides controlled towing of your 5th wheel camper with its patented head technology. The head is built on a cast yoke with poly-torsion inserts that reduce shock loads, chucking and noise at the coupling point
  • COUPLING INDICATOR. Built into this 5th wheel hitch is a 3-position indicator that shows the coupling status. It conveniently shows if the 5th wheel hitch is coupled, uncoupled or ready to tow
  • TESTED STRENGTH. This 5th wheel hitch is tested and rated for 16,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 4,000 lbs. vertical load (limited to lowest-rated towing component). It is tested according to SAE J2638 specifications
  • VERSATILE FIT. This 5th wheel hitch comes with standard legs to easily and securely mount onto any industry-standard 5th wheel base rails, such as CURT base rails #16104 and #16204 (base rails and brackets sold separately)

I love this hitch, hardly any rocking from the camper to my truck. Great product and value.

This review is for packaging and shipping only, as there have been some reviews regarding poor packaging. There are plenty of other reviews addressing towing and assembly. The hitch arrived by UPS in very good boxed condition. It came from Dallas to Palmer Alaska, so probably traveling further than anywhere else, in the lower 48. The bulk of the hitch was packaged in a very sturdy ribbed plastic tub with a steel band around the top, far superior to cardboard. It appears Curt got the message and upped their shipping game.

The Curt A16 5th. Wheel hitch is well designed and built. My wife and I were leaving for a few days and I ordered the A 16 hitch and had ask if they could get it to me any sooner than what they had said so that we could have it for are trip. It came early, was able to install it to make sure fit was good, fit perfectly in my rails. No fighting with this hitch. My old Reese hitch was wore out and was chewing up my kingpin. The Curt hitch is very nice, hooking up my truck is way easier than before, and the ride is so much better. And the articulate feature is very nice. Very easy to remove. Thanks so very much.

Easy hookup and release, high capacity for the price. Jaws rather than plate to hold your trailer.

In my opinion, this is the best bitch for the money. B&W makes a better hitch but at double the price it wasn't worth it for me. The build quality, adjustability and swivel head sold me on this thing. I currently have a Reese 16k on my truck and it barely swivels, costs just at much as this one though. Everything with the hitch is great, the shipping, that's another story. UPS did a terrible job. It looked like they chucked it off the truck as they were going by at 60. The top of the box was ripped open, completely exposing the contents. I was really surprised everything was still there honestly.

I assembled the hitch, very easy to do. Have not used it yet because i ordered it after the camping season. Very nice hitch. It will work very well for me. Cant wait to use it. Comes apart in sections making it quite a bit lighter to remove from the vehicle.

There was a delay with delivery, as it was lost in shipping. Easy to install, good quality, strong, and a smooth ride.

The hitch works as it should but it was just too clutch my for me. You could hear and feel the trailer every time you stopped or started. I adjusted the gain on the trailer brakes to minimize that but it was still very noticeable. I ended up buying a different hitch. I also could never get the hitch to sit flush on the rails in its highest position, you can't reach the bolts to torque them when it'd on the truck. And when you remove it to tighten them the legs shift and bit, also had a rattle when unloaded.

One of the best performing and nicest looking hitches you can buy, for the money you can't go wrong! The pivot bushings do a great job of absorbing impacts and vibrations from the trailer.During the first few uses the yellow 'couple' indicator wouldn't fully show, but after a few uses and some dry lube spray around all the moving parts, everything works flawlessly now. Towing my 10K 5th wheel RV with complete confidence over the economy models out there. I highly recommend this product.

Great hitch. Got the Curt rails and brackets for my truck, followed the video and had no problems installing. The hitch head separates easily enough from the base which makes it much more manageable to get in and out if the bed of the truck. It pulls well with no chucking or noticeable loosiness. Also, my driveway is about a 7° slope up and I've had no problems with hitching or unhitching with the trailer level and the truck still aliped downhill. We also camped at a (crappy) site recently that was over four inches out of level side to side and had no problems with the hitch. Only complaint is that it would be nice to be able to lock the handle in place with a lock instead of the pin for added security and a normal lock isn't wide enough and I haven't found an alternative yet.
