seems to work, I haven't relied on the safety chains on my trailer yet, and I hope I don't need to.

The hook itself is what I was looking for, a heavy duty one handed trailer chain hook that has a spring holder that won’t break after 3 uses like most. And you can’t complain about the cost. The 4 star reason: They put an annoying sticker right on the hook. Had to use a heat gun and adhesive remover to clean it off so it wouldn’t attract dirt and slime my hand. A number of reviews discuss how to keep it from slipping off the chain since it doesn’t have a closure. If you use a heavy duty carabiner with 3/8 diameter like the Curt 82930 it won’t slip off the ‘biner, and you don’t have to damage the metal with heat or bending etc. and then you can remove or move it without cutting it off.

Nothing wrong with the S-hook, just that they were too small to latch on to my truck hitch. Sent them back.

Excellent hook for trailer safety chains. Great price, I’m happy with it, but unless you have a hydraulic press, you won’t be able to squeeze the open end on to your chain. It’s a very sturdy hook and super great price.

I had to heat and pound on the hook with a 4 pound hammer a couple hundred times against a piece of railroad rail to close around the chain link but if I loose the trailer it won't be the fault of these. They are very hefty and made of good material.

Cheaper than Tractor Supply. I replaced some hooks on my trailer's safety chains. These were easy to install and crimp onto the chain. I had to install small shackles on my hitch so these will snap in.

Very solid and well built. These should last forever!

I imagine you'd need to know what you're doing if you want to close the small end over a chain link or caribeaner. I couldn't cinch it down a bit. I started with vice-grips, then moved to the actual vice, then resorted to the hammer. Nothing worked. I'm sure it's just my ignorance, but I needed a closed end & couldn't get it. I've since found something that works for me.
