Bought a cheapie soprano and was expecting to send in for tuning like reviews said. So emptied wallet on mouthpiece and reeds beforehand and voila. Love em and been using these reeds on my tenor for decades.

Surprised of good quality and most of all how many of the bunch of 5 are usable. Compared to regular reeds these plastic cover reeds seem to be ready for use right from the box.

I'm new to the sax . . .and I'm working out the embouchure . . .but after trying to keep my bamboo reeds wet . . .I had a hard time with sustain . . .and wondering if my reed had dried out after an hour of playing . . .so . ..I purchased synthetic reeds . . .they just came in the mail . . .and man . . .my playing is much smoother . . .I'm waiting on a new mouth piece . . .but . . .I feel comfortable playing now that I have these synthetic reeds . . . .I'm going to play for an hour . . .and . . .I'm pretty sure the reeds will withstand the test of time . . .I've read one review supporting bamboo reeds . . .but . . .after checking these things out . . .I'm going to continue to purchase synthetic reeds . . .especially from D'addario

I prefer these to traditional reeds any day. I'm lazy and don't like soaking reeds and even going through the prep process before using them, so these have been a lifesaver. I also like the sound and tone that are produces from these over regular reeds. I will be buying these again, as the plastic does wear off, but they still last longer and break less than traditional ones, in my experience.

A friend who is a retired professional sax player recommended I try a plastic coated or synthetic reed. I bought a box of Rico Plasticovers for my alto and became a fan. Someone pointed out the black plastic makes them harder to centre and I can't argue with that. I find you need good light but I got used to that pretty quickly. Love that I can set an instrument down and pick it up later play without rewetting the reed.

Love these plasticover soprano sax reeds and you have to use it for a little while to break it in until the reed is well broken in and then you have a very nice mellow sound coming out your sax.
