I’ve been looking into getting these split shackles for a while. The snatch block pulley is an added feature only if you’re using the spilt shackle as a shackle alone, not attached to your vehicle. If attached to a vehicle the block pulley is removed during installation. They feel and appear well made. When installing the shackles on my vehicle I found you had to tighten the nuts and allen screws on the nuts just right otherwise the split shackle wouldn’t close together tightly with the magnets. Also I feel if for some reason your allen screw falls out the nut most likely the nut can fall off as well as the spilt shackle. Rubber isolators are included to help in keeping the shackles from clanking. These split shackles will make it a lot easier to connect to a recovery rope and/or soft shackles. In icy conditions these split shackles can get stuck together but it doesn’t take much to split them apart with a hit or two. I have no regret in getting this product at this time, but I didn't like wasting my time just to get the nuts and allen screws just right for the split shackle to work as designed.

So, the shackles on the back of my rig are rusted and ugly, but still functional. I was browsing and came across these and it was intriguing because they perform double duty. They serve as a recovery shackle but also as a multi-point recovery/snatch block option for winching. Okay....you got me, let's give it a shot. Here are my thoughts:They arrived very quickly, packaged incredibly well (bravo) and they included instructions for those with less than average common sense...BUT I must say that they are a bit different than your standard shackle, so the instructions are helpful.First off, these are heavy duty. They are HEAVY just like a steel shackle. They are three pieces, which was strange at first but once I played with them, I understood why. The magnetic hold is pretty sweet....The nuts that hold the center rod in place have a set screw (this is what I was talking about in regards to instructions) and the set screw needs to be tightened once installed. They come with a set of rubber spacers, a slim and thick. I required the thick....your mileage may vary. The snatch block "wheel" has a Delrin or other highly impact resistant polymer bushing installed and appears to be something that will hold up to a LOT of use. (Time will tell.)They installed without an issue; they look great AND....(The best part) they can replace about 35lbs of snatch block components!!! I put the above-mentioned snatch block wheels in the recovery basket...While I have not put any serious weight on these, I did pick the back end of the rig up with a tractor using these and it did very well. It weighs about 4800lbs (I failed to get a picture.)At this point, I highly recommend these. If they made them with an OD green option, I would order multiple sets! Will update with issues!

I ordered this to use as a Snatch Block for my WARN 9.5Ti Winch on my 2009 Jeep Wrangler 392 Hemi build. The unit was packaged and presented nicely. I've got to say this shackle is HEAVY DUTY and superior finish! The unit comes with an instruction sheet and several supporting items to allow you to use this shackle mounted straight the bumper ties, mounted to the rear hitch carrier insert, as a Snatch Block or in theory as a tow/rescue strap extender/joiner. The items include extra spacer rubber washers and Allen wrenches to secure the through bolts of the shackles.I was hoping to use the AMBULL dual purpose as a Snatch Block and direct mount to my front or rear bumper ties. I have aftermarket bumpers for both the front and rear of my Jeep build and the layout of those current bumper ties would not accommodate these shackles directly without modification. If you are contemplating direct connection to your bumper ties, check the clearly provided shackle dimensions before purchase. I am able to use one of these shackles in the rear hitch receiver insert for my bumper and the remaining shackle works great as a snatch block for the front of my unit working with my WARN winch.I used the shackle straight out as packaged for the snatch block by simply tightening the securing hardware and winding the synthetic rope around the roller of the shackle and securing my tow hook to the existing front bumper shackles. The AMBULL shackle split easily and attached to my ARB tow straps and my Bubba Rope products with no issues whatsoever. The roller was free and worked easily although I was only partially loaded with my winch. For your Physics fans, you know that using a Snatch Block with your Winch doubles the pulling power so why wouldn't you want to use one of these? The remaining AMBULL shackle was fitted to my rear hitch receiver insert with some of the supplied washers and will work nicely as a tow shackle point when need for the rear towing or trail rescue tasks.I like these products as they are really heavy duty, easy to operate and the aesthetics are over the top. I have used and seen many shackle and tow products over my life of Jeeping and off-roading and these stand out as top notch products to me. I think you will like them too and hope my review will help you decide if they are right for your application. Thanks for reading!
