The slot in the side of these black plastic bridge pins is too narrow to fit the bass stings in a light gauge string set. The slot in the side of the bridge pin is only 0.059" wide, but to fit light gauge D'Addario EXP16 the slot needs to be wider than 0.074 in order to accommodate the thicker portion of string near the end-ball of the low E string. These are a total failure. They simply will not work for the low E or the A string.

I’ve had trouble finding pins that would fit my Gibson Hummingbird Pro. I spent quite a bit on a Waverly set and was very disappointed that they did not fit and I had to pay for return shipping. By the way it was purchased on eBay. I believe that is why I had to pay the return at any rate I bought these and they seem to work fine so far. It may be a waste of money spending money on so called high end pins.

Come sempre Planet Waves é sinonimo di qualità.....ottima fattura installati senza problemi, in fatto di sonorità non ho notato nessun cambiamento. Comunque come ricambio estetico li consiglio.

Should have gone with tusk pins...this product is no better than the plastic bridge pins that sell for 50 cents each. Save your money

I wanted to replace my stock plastic bridge pins on a 2014 Taylor GS Mini that I had recently purchased. So I orderedthe “Planet Waves” Ebony Bridge Pin set with End Pin. What arrived was a totally different package than expectedand with one less bridge pin. Nice box though. The reason I am not too concerned about it, or complained about it, is that I only paid $11.00, shipped, for the set. Thelowest cost I could find on the net, including Amazon, is $16.00 for the “Planet Waves” 7 pin plus End pin set encasedin a typical plastic blister pack. I received a pretty good deal in the end. I can go without an extra bridge pin.Interestingly I found no “D’Addario Premium Grade” bridge pin sets, even on foreign web sites or e-Bay. So maybe thisis an old product from bygone days…curious. Also both D’Addario and Planet Waves black bridge pins carry the exactsame “Item number”. It is possible there was some corporate reshuffling of product branding or some such thing. Now back to the review…first some comparative stats on the stock bridge pins and the new “Planet Waves”, uh, “D’Addario” Ebony Bridge pinset (whatever):--Existing Plastic Bridge Pin Stats ---> Total Length: 1-1/4 inch> Length below Head: 1 inch> Width below Head: 3/16 inch tapering down to 1/8 inch--Ebony Bridge Pin Stats ---> Total Length: 1 inch> Length below Head: 3/4 inch> Width below Head: 3/16 inch tapering down to 1/8 inch[End Pin: Total Length: 1-1/16 inch | Length below Head: 3/4inch | Width below Head: 1/4 inchAs you can see the new replacement Ebony bridge pins are ¼ inch shorter but the same width below the head. Thepins fit just right but, at first, I had a bit of difficulty getting the string ball-end to catch the pin; most likely due to theshorter length. Once I learned how to catch the ball-end so it rested against the pin, and not below it, the rest of thepins installed without a problem. I have never owned bridge pins this short before.I did have some ride-up of the low-E pin initially when tuning the string to pitch. I just needed to make sure the ballend of the string was pulled up as far as it could go. Once that was achieved the pin seated correctly into the saddleholes.Sound wise I didn’t find too much of an up-tick in tone. I am using DR Sunbeams Lights (12-54) Phosphor Bronzeround core strings and they seemed to brighten up the high end a bit but the mids and bass sound the same; therewas no AHA-WOW-that-is-a-huge-difference kind of reaction. Obviously your mileage may vary dependent upon thestrings you use, size of guitar, how it’s braced and on and on.With regard to appearance…what can I say…they’re black…just like the plastic ones replaced. No enhancement ofappearance with the plain black ones but that is what I wanted and expected. Yet, for some strange reason I havebecome an incredible guitar player because of the new pin set. What a transformation. ;-) Okay maybe not…so, if you are expecting the extra pin you might be disappointed, you may not be. You might get the D’Addario versionand not the Planet Waves version. Just a heads up on this, that’s all. The bridge pins from both packages appear tobe exactly the same product just different packaging. With that in mind the product I received gets 5 stars for working well with very little hassle. I would buy them again forsure, probably not for the same price though. Seems like it was fluke. BTW, the bridge pins are made in the USA.

These work really well as a replacement on a Taylor GS Mini - and I think look considerably better then the standard pins. I'm sure they fit lots of other guitars as well - but I've used them for the Taylor and they fit and work really well. I've not personally notice a huge change in tone. The Taylor sounded great before and still does!

Plastic bridge pins for replacement on my Epiphone. Great pins...no complaints. They work as intended. These are plastic pins, not the wooden pins. It seems that there is a problem with the item description saying they are wooden, but if you look at the header on the description it says "injected molded". I never heard of Injected molded wood before. :)

Great little upgrade especially for lower budget guitars, I bought these for one of my "sit around the house" doodling/writing/emergency backup acoustic electric ESP/LTD Xtone guitars I have sitting around, improved the tone better than I expected for such a cheap guitar, and they're raised a bit off the bridge so it's much easier to restring than the stock pins.

Wanted to replace the original pins on a inexpensive Fender with something cheap, but was disappointed as soon as I put them on. Just like the previous review wrote these will just pop out as soon as you start winding the strings. The only difference I could see compared to my original pins were that these are just a few millimetres shorter. The strings I'm using are Dean Markley .12-54.The only good thing about these pins is that it works great with the Planet Waves peg winder, but what good is that when they won't keep themselves stay put anyway?

I removed the cheap plastic bridge pins that came with my somewhat decent guitar, and replaced them with these. I did not notice a change in tone/sound quality, then again my ears are not much to brag about. They're holding the strings in, although it took some effort. I'm considering filing down part of them to make them fit onto the bridge completely. Not bad, not great.
