No hardware store nor big box hardware store had this in stock even though they listed it. It took half the amount of time to install this as it did to remove the old one!

Purchased to replace an original central brass stem in a faucet that was only 5 years old. This fit perfectly and was readily available and was a great price.UPDATE: this piece began operating strangely after 1 year, so perhaps the original manufacturer piece is the way to go.

Mustee (durastall ) 1970s -1990 , for brass , online dealier does not sell brass only plastic , this product replaced the valve and then bought handles , would highly recommend
