Item arrived in an undamaged box and was wrapped with plastic and a rubber band. I lifted it out, unwrapped it, moved my arm about 6 inches and the handle snapped in half. I hadn't even swung it yet. I'm glad this happened at home and not out on the water. While the handle is cheap and not very good, the hook and hardware appear to be very solid. Rather than return this item, as I don't want another one with a cheap handle, I will replace the handle with something stronger.

Easy to stick fish with the gaff. Can use the gaff to pull hooks from fish’s mouth. The only thing I didn’t like was the handle diameter is a little small. I wrapped handle with cord to build it up bigger so it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fly out of your hand.

Great gaff for kayaks. I typically gaff larger heavy scaled fish with a downward "hatchet" type swing as it's easier than pulling from a seated position. This gaff has enough weight and the right hook angle that it works very well for that technique. Very sturdy and heavy but still floats. Great piece of gear for the kayak!
