Solid plastic, not cheap at all. A trip to Home Depot for a couple of fittings and it was good to go. So much better than the straight pipe I had before. Prettier, the sound is awesome. For the naysayers who complain about the price for just a piece of plastic: it's well worth the hours of enjoyment this upgrade will bring!

This box does the job in my fishpond. The spout is adequately long to clear the edge of the pond. I didn't like the fact that there was a persistent leak where the inlet tube enters the box, and the rubber gaskets just squeeze out if I tightened the tube to get rid of the drip. Sealing this with 3M 5200 solved the drip, but added to the cost.

I have a small forest edge area in my front yard where I put a waterfall, stream, and bridge with a pool at the end of the stream. Problem was, the falls looked ragged like water coming out of a pipe, which it was. So, when I found this product, I decided to order it and try it. Here is what I found:1. This works by filling up a reserve from the bottom and then spilling out over a flat sheet of plastic that has edges to keep the water in to flow over the edge of the plastic sheet..2. The flat edge and the reserve filling from the bottom creates a steady even flow of water that creates a sheet of water for the falls.3. By having a protruding rock that is into the sheet of water, it creates a more realistic look of water exiting over a falls edge.4. Because the top of this box is open, you need a large rock for the top or you need to have a pool at the top that the water looks like it is coming from. I used a large rock across the top and it works great.I did not think that having the water enter through the bottom would make a difference, but it does and this box creates the perfect look for my small water feature. I am very pleased with it and I would recommend it.

Good value for the price compared to the competition. I do recommend a flow rate of over 800 gallons/hour. I have two, one is about 550 g/h and the other is just under 1,000 g/h. The higher flow rate looks much nicer. I did have an issue with the fittings. The fitting was too tight on the waterfall. They come together, but not assembled. I'm very familliar with how the fittings work, so no, I'm not the problem. I had to open up slightly the hole in the plastic waterfall to accommodate the fitting. It should have still sealed nicely, but they both leaked. Pretty easy fix though, I just siliconed around the fittings and no more leaks. I do recommend the waterfall, just be aware you may have to do a little work.

The Danner 02467 Waterfall Box was just what we needed for our pond. We've had a pond for about 10 years. Our waterfall consisted of a hose from a 1000 gph pump lifting the water about 2 feet to the top of a pile of granite rocks and hitting a splash rock before falling into the 100 gallon pond. It looked good and made a great waterfall sound but created splash which eventually would lower the water level. Once a week we had to top off the pond with fresh water to keep the level up. The Danner waterfall box was easy to install, looks great, creates a nice waterfall sound (and plenty of oxygenation which the fish love) and virtually stopped the splash out of water. The need to top off the water level has been eliminated. I'm still working with smaller rocks to hide the black box. The water inlet is in the back near the bottom and uses a removable, stepped plastic fitting. I use 1" plastic hose so I cut off the smaller diameter section of the fitting and attached the hose. I also ordered the bio-media which sits in a black zippered bag in the waterfall box and helps to grow bacteria needed to keep the water clean. Between the pump output and the waterfall inlet I have a 9 watt UV filter to kill algae. The waterfall box needs to be level to work properly. If it is not, water will come off the spillway on one side or the other, reducing the beauty of the 12" wide sheet of water.

While you can do several things to create a stream or waterfall, including hiding the pump hose between some rocks...let's face it, a true streaming waterfall that is in a thin spread out natural-looking line changes everything. It even changes the sounds in your yard. I have seen people who live near a busy street put in a pond and falls in the yard so that a trickling and bubbling stream suddenly covers up the noise and the traffic. For me, there is such a dramatic and peaceful look to add waterfalls and ponds to landscaping. And this did it perfectly.Oddly, there are no directions that come with it. You get a booklet but it has no directions as to how to put this together. Granted, there are only a few parts, but, for example, where the hose meets the inside part there is a spout that should either go up or down. One can only guess. I guessed up.Also, it's important to notice the rubber stoppers as there is no instructions...when you put it together, you obviously (or not so obviously?) need to be sure the stoppers plug up both sides of the hose entry.Initially I couldn't decide if I needed one of these as-is or one with a pre-filter. It turns out they are the exact same item but the pre-filter means it has a sponge on the inside or a loose bag of bio-rocks. You can order these separately if you decide you need them or, as some do, create them on your own with items to filter. For the falls, the pump hose pumps the water through the back which drops the debris to the bottom of this bucket-like falls piece, then the water bubbles up and over the spout. This piece is hidden with a large flat rock over it, and rocks on the side so all you will see is simply a beautiful streaming waterfall into your pond. The sound and look is gorgeous. The butterflies seem to have a strong affinity for it for some reason as well.Additionally, if you have fish or tadpoles or frogs, it adds wonderful oxygenation to your water but also helps rid it of mosquitos by ensuring there are more ripples in your water.I would prefer they add instructions rather than assuming we've all used one before but it's pretty easy to "wing it".Also, should you decide to order the pre-made filter parts to further filter your water, they are in the booklet that comes with this so you have the part number.Dip your toes in...the water is fine!Note: If you live in an area with long and cold winters you'd need to put this up during the winter. For us Texans, it flows year round and for me 24/7 365

This does a wonderful job with a 1500 gph pump and would likely work quite well with a slightly smaller pump. I had read somewhere that it takes about 150 gph per inch of waterfall for a good waterfall and this one at 11+ inches proves that rule-of-thumb. I have a very slight drip where the gasket joins the back of the box but, hey, this is a water feature and the little drip won't harm a thing. The fitting at the back of the box accommodates 4 sizes of hose so it'll likely work for you no matter what kind of pump you're using. It was a great price at about $40 delivered.
