Freedom In Simplicity
The DAX88 offers a wide array of analog and digital inputs, including integrated Wi-Fi (AirPlay, Spotify Connect, DLNA) streaming options. Featuring a dedicated Wi-Fi channel, the DAX88 allows you to stream your favorite music directly from your preferred streaming service through AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and DLNA. With access to streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TIDAL, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn, the musical world is in your control. Additional hardware and or paid subscription may be required for Pandora, Amazon Music, and other streaming services if you are using Android devices. Analog input options, including four RCA, seven 3.5 mm, and two optical connections, ensure you can use virtually any input source from TVs to media players and additional Bluetooth adapters.
The output flexibility that the DAX88 provides lets you choose your speaker system or integrate the DAX88 into an existing design. With six stereo amplified zones and two stereo preamp zones, the DAX88 gives you the option to use any speaker combinations as well as additional amplifiers. Using the preamp zones with different amplifiers such as 70V commercial-grade amplifiers, the DAX88 instantly provides app-controlled and Wi-Fi streaming options to your 70/100V audio system.
Connect multiple DAX88 units to your network for unlimited system expansion options Suppose you have more than eight zones that need audio. In that case, this expansion capability ensures you never run out of audio options.
Multi-Zone Immersion
Dayton Audio's Matrio mobile app simplifies your audio system by giving you, and other users access to multi-zone control from your mobile devices. With the ability to select between eight sources and eight zones, Matrio streamlines personalized audio experiences across multiple rooms. Matrio allows you to change sources, adjust volume, tone, and balance for zones, as well as group zones. Enjoy whole-home audio immersion without needing to move from where you are.
Command at Your Fingertips
Matrio gives you complete command over each of your eight output zones. The Zone Control menu allows you to adjust all possible zone settings, including power on/off, source selection, volume control, and mute on/off. Additional functions, including bass, treble, and the left/right balance, are available for each zone. Matrio features a simple to navigate interface that gives you streamlined control over your DAX88.
Customize Zone and Source Names
Customize all of your source, zone, and device names to ensure that you can quickly identify zones and inputs. Name each of the eight zones to keep track of what zone you are controlling. Custom zone names help when grouping zones together to ensure you select the correct zone combination. The custom names, changeable at any time, appear in Matrio for all users on your network.
All The Control All at Once
In addition to individual zone control, Matrio gives you the ability to group multiple zones for streamlined command. The Group Control menu allows you to adjust all possible zone settings, including power on/off and mute on/off. From the menu, you can also sync volumes and input sources across grouped zones. Choose any combination of zones from all DAX88 units in your network for custom group control.
Your Music Your Way
You are already familiar with your go-to streaming service. Dayton Audio didn't want you to have to learn a new music interface to enjoy your tunes. With the integration of a dedicated Wi-Fi audio streaming channel, the DAX88 simplifies listening to the music you love directly from your favorite streaming service. Once both the DAX88 and Matrio are on the same network, you can stream to the DAX88 via Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, or DLNA. The flexibility of streaming options makes it easy to listen to services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, throughout your home or business. Additional hardware and or paid subscription may be required for Amazon Music, and other streaming services if you are using Android devices.

This is not my first receiver but boy the sound it makes. It is really powerful and drives my speakers bridges and unbridled to levels and clarity I have heard only with much more expensive systems. Also the convenience of 8 zones and 8 streams is amazing.I wish it had a built in Bluetooth, and not just a WiFi option. I plugged in an external Bluetooth receiver through RCA plugI wish it would connect every time I want to control it. But alas it is WiFi based( really close to the router) and I need to sometimes hop off and on from a network to get it to connect.I wish Spotify and other apps like YouTube music or amazon music would just play from the device. Like Tune-in does, but unfortunately it still streams from your phone (like Apple play)Other those complaints I love it!

Just hooked it up and audio quality is much better than the other amp I returned. Seems to have plenty of inputs and power. App is a little strange. Need two them, one to log onto the unit and another for your audio source. Besides that I would buy again.

Installed few of these for my customers. Don't have an unhappy customer so far!!!Great quality and great apps (control app and a streaming app)!!Little tech advice, when installing app on iphone, make sure you are on the same wifi network and click "allow network access", or your app will not see the device, then you will need to reinstall it.2nd App "Hi-Fly" allows streaming services directly to device from your phone multiple audio streaming platforms like Amazon Music, Spotify etc (paid subscription mostly).Very cool, 1 device multiple functions!!

I like everything about this. i use 6 zones and 8 inputs offer a good selection of inputs. The one thing I would change would be there is only 1 Wi-Fi input channel. Phones using Wi-Fi is the most popular input and only 1 person can use it at a time. Using the phone app to match input channels to zones is easy convenient and easy to use. Add more Wi-Fi input channels!

Great sound. The App is well done and makes operation of the amp very simple. I have an issue with connectivity to figure out. My phone loses connection with the amp (wifi). Might be the phone so I'm not going to be critical about the amp, at least not at this point in time. If you are looking for a comprehensive amp that you can install yourself... this is the one.

Bought the DAX to replace a Russound system that had finally given up on me. Ordered the system through an Amazon Vendor, Ayreborn Audio. Unit arrived well packaged with all parts as advertised. The system was easy to wire up and once hard wired to my network connected to the control App almost instantly. Setting up zone and source names was also straight forward. The system is plenty loud and drives my wall and ceiling speakers nicely. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to replace an existing wired system. For full disclosure the first unit that arrived had a small problem with one of the zone outputs. Ayreborn got back to my emailed inquiry within a day and paid for return shipping. They tested the unit, confirmed it had an issue and sent out a new one which is running perfectly. Appreciated the great post sale service. Would happily buy from them again.

I really liked this amp for the way it's setup and the app. It has multiple zones, and multiple inputs for each zone.I'm using a setup which uses ceiling speakers and HT speaker / receiver. I wired my ceiling speakers as zone 1, and my HT setup on zone 2. When I turn on movies, I'll have everything on so I can have at atmos setup without having to change anything. If I didn't purchase this, then I would've went with full Sonos setup. Much more money, for similar setup.

There are numerous wired speakers in rooms throughout my house and I’d been looking for quite a while for an affordable way of distributing multiple audio sources to them.I explored various options for how to do this, and even spoke with a number of manufactures' consultants, including Dayton about my specific setup. I decided to purchase the DAX88 in August 2022 after some delay due to (I’m guessing) supply chain issues in early 2022.The setup was relatively easy. Thankfully, the documentation, illustrations and directions were easy to follow, clear and grammatically accurate.My home audio system is now integrated in a way that allows me to control each audio source and sets of speakers (zones ) independently. The Matrio app provides a decent interface for access and control. Among other available sources, AirPlay in my case, lets me stream from many sources originating on my iPad, iPhone, etc., over my home Wi-Fi. I’ve been tweaking the setup now for a few months and I’m very pleased with the performance.Although not a show stopper, it would be great if some enhancements were made to the Matrio app, including integration with Alexa as well as the ability to name and save custom whole-house configurations.
