Overall the product is very easy to install. If you are looking for a budget friendly option that still give you the more “mechanical” feel to your shifter then this is a good product. Everything fit together as expected and the quality of the product is a lot better than I expected for the price. The functionality of the product still gives it a normal shifter feel but makes it stiffer with less wobble.

There are many options for billet solid bushings out there for the ST. These DO NOT fit properly. Whenever you are installing these bushings, they should be able to drop into place perfectly and you shouldn't have to wedge and force them into the shift cable ring that holds them. Additionally, the green plastic socket you transfer from the stock ends to the solid bushings should be able to spin freely and not feel wedged in either. Since these are wedged in, whenever you shift it takes a way too large amount of effort in comparison on how it's actually supposed to feel and is putting tremendous strain on the cables themselves since the bushings have no play in them. I ended up sending these back and buying the exact same ones I bought on here for my last ST and they fit perfectly.

One of the bushings fit fine with the bushing rotating without much resistance. That was on the neutral/ reverse side of the cables. The main shifter cable (the one with the adjuster) the bushing fit very tightly. Another reviewer mentioned sanding the fitting at the cable end to help this. As I was installing it was difficult to tell what the rotation point even was. Is it supposed to spin on the ball joint? Is the little green piece on the inside supposed to spin? Everything was installed tightly and then threadlocked. After driving the car for a day I realized that it was not returning to neutral, and if you tried to move the shifter left to right in neutral it was sticking.Once I got home I disconnected the main cable with the tight fit and sure enough, it returned to neutral without resistance. It’s the plastic end of the shift cable that’s supposed to spin around the bushing, not the other points. I went in and figured that I would either loosen it, or need to sand it a bit to have it spin within the cable end. I went in with the Allen wrench and a pair of Vice grips and tried to loosen it. It was ridiculously hard with the thread lock (blue) on it. It was barely spinning with a tremendous amount of torque. First I mostly rounded off the Allen key insert. Then I pushed in as hard as I could and turned with all my might. You can guess what happened next.., snapped the end of the cable off.To replace these cables is an absolute nightmare. You need to disassemble the center console and then 14 other things that are all extraordinarily difficult.I still don’t have it all back together. The cables are in order and hopefully I can have it back together for Monday and my commute to work. If not it will need to be towed to the nearest mechanic and I’ll be charged almost a grand to get it back.I’m 38 and have done numerous fixes and a few mods. I had a frustrating moment, made a dumb decision, and now I’m paying for it. Literally and figuratively.I will NOT be installing solid bushings on the new cable.

The worked and they fit perfect for the one on the shift arm but the reverse one was a little wonky. I had to loosen it to get it on the ball and then tighten it after it was on the ball. When its tightened down all the way before it will not snap onto the ball. It works and for the price you can’t really complain.

The bushings work as they should on the Focus RS and shouldn’t require any modification to the cable end. The internal diameter is a bit narrow. So be careful not to tighten the bushing too much or the cable won’t move freely. Use blue Loctite to ensure the bushing doesn’t unscrew. If the bushing won’t fit the cable end you’re probably installing it upside down. Go watch a Youtube video of the install. It should only take a few minutes to get the stock bushings out by breaking the outer ring with a flathead screwdriver. Then use a wire cutter or snip to break the ring around the green grommet. The green grommet must be reused in these solid bushings.
