The plastic covering that collects the link "SHINKS" in time due to heat! It reshapes itself and eventually falls off. Hard to keep the mice and chipmunks out of. Found acorns in my vent. No the best. :(

I was replacing a 20 year old vent hood that is located under our deck. Removed the old hood through the access panel on the deck floor. Measured. Found this new hood was 'almost' the same size. When it arrived, I tried to install. Unfortunately, the hood was about 3/4" too wide and would not fit between the deck joists. So... off to my workshop for trimming the sides of the hood. This worked with a bit of 'fitting'. I had some long machine screws and the whole install was complete. Did not use the guard / cage since getting on my stomach and opening up the deck access panel is a pain. You would have to do this often since the guard / cage traps laundry lint and must be cleaned out often.

The picture here is very different from the item I got, and I cannot find it either from the company's website. so I am not sure if the item I got was made by Deflecto.

When it arrived it was bent as if it was stored under something heavy. Because of that the tabs that keep the “cage” in place aren’t real tight. We managed but i was disappointed in the condition of it out of the package.

my old one was over twenty years old and disintegrating in the sun and from being bumped into...i had no idea which vent cover to buy and decided that this one looked like my old one and was cheap enough to donate if it didn't work...i saw in comments it didn't come with screws and ordered it anyway...very easy to install with the old screws...i did good on this purchase!!!

Not sure how long this will last, but I bought two to replace two cracked deflecto covers that were 17 years old.
