I can’t use this because the adhesive patch that is supposed to stick to rear window won’t stay on window

My Yukon always popped off with loading and unloading through the back window. This was an easy fix

I'm not an expert but what worked for me is take a close look at the little legs and make sure they're flat to the base. (I was working with dorman brand but same difference). I don't know the purpose of the little bumps but yes to me soldering requires close contact so I rubbed the base on a flat file until rubbed off the bumps, surprise exposed copper under the coating. Keep rubbing till get squared off shiny U shape. After that I cleaned both the base and the origininal site with alcoholeed q tip then solder flux. Make sure to first heat the clip enough to melt solder into it, not drip solder on it. I built a base and otherwise proceeded per Youtube vid "Rear window defroster tab repair" by South Main Auto (thanks eric!). Is was 50 and raining a little in my driveway; i put a rag on top of the glass. Keep heating one time till sure the solder has melted the glass wont break. Its only been on a day but feels really solid. good luck.

There are two of these tabs on my window. One is still attached and appears to be soldered in place. I’ve also seen multiple videos that show a tab being soldered to a similar GM vehicle. I gave up after many failed attempts. There appears to be stubs under the product that prevent it from sitting flat on the surface. Maybe if it sat flat, it would work? That’s the only thing I can deem from the situation. Perhaps I’ll have better luck with adhesive, but it doesn’t work with solder.
