Depending on mounting location, not the easiest install. Big cooling capacity.

Before and after results are very good, i wired it up as it came as a “ pull fan”, on hot days i’d get 180 AT MOST while being at 94 degrees outside.

I installed this trans cooler on my 2023 Toyota 4 Runner. Additional cooling is not needed unless towing. This cooler provides a small amount of additional cooling before the trans temp reaches 180, then the fan kicks on and holds or lowers the trans temperature. I was seeing as high as 225 when towing, now never more than 200 and then only for a few minutes before it goes back to around 185.

I bought it to use as a secondary trans cooler but ended up using it as a primary cooler. I mounted in in the engine bay and without the fan running it keeps the fluid below 190. I'm very happy with the purchase and recommend as an aux cooler.

Before I installed this unit, the transmission temperature in my 2013 Chevy Tahoe (with tow package) pulling a 7500 pound camper would be almost 240 degrees in the summer. After installing it, the temperature reached 207 after long hill climbs and then would return to under 200 for the entire 400-mile trip in 95 degree weather. Super performance!Installation Notes: This unit replaced the existing external transmission cooler. I needed to custom-make brackets for the top but used existing holes in the frame for the bottom. I wired the fan to blow into the unit. I could not find an ignition-switched fuse so I attached it to the sunroof (don't have) 30A fuse. I was worried that the fan would run for a long time after I stopped but that was not the case. One note about my setup. I did not attach the thermal switch directly to the unit (see picture). If you have to do this you will have to buy 2 more hose clamps. Finally, when I first tested the unit it leaked where the sensor screws into its assembly. I gently tried pliers to tighten it but that did not work. I applied permatex high temp thread sealer to the sensor and hand tightened. No leaks the next day!UPDATE: 2000 Miles later! When I pulled into my driveway I noticed a shiny puddle near my Tahoe. I looked down the driveway and saw a whole trail of "shiny"! I knew right away from the smell that it was transmission fluid. I looked under the car and couldn't see anything obvious so I started her up and saw fluid streaming out the bottom. Long story short, one of the small hose clamps broke in half. It did not break at the worm drive; it was in the middle. Never seen that before. I replaced it with a larger hose clamp and it seems to be fine. I got real lucky that I was just pulling in the driveway and noticed the leak. In just a few minutes it lost two quarts. This could have been catastrophic if it happened anywhere else. I was also lucky that the broken clamp was visible and reachable. I am now paranoid about the other clamps that came with the kit. I plan on removing the whole bumper assembly and adding a second set of clamps to each connection.

Works fine. Ours came with a bad switch, but they sent a new one right away.

I bought this unit about 2 years ago. Worked perfect. Kept my temps real low. The thermostat would shut the fan off at ~145*.Then that unit developed a fluid leak. Was losing a quart every ~300 miles. Of course there was no warranty. For the price I paid 12 months is waaaay short.Anyway, bought this unit to replace that leaker. Everything was the same except they changed the thermostat. This unit shuts the fan off at ~175*. Not too happy with that.As a side note, Derale never returns emails or phone messages. If you call and get a live person, consider buying a lottery ticket next thing ! ! !
