I mainly bought the boom mat headliner because I recently bought a hardtop tj and I live in the desert where temps can reach the 120s. Even though it's stll January I can already tell a big difference in direct sun on a 60 plus degree day. Also made a huge difference in the acoustics of the jeep, it's so much quieter now even the radio sounds better. I was initially kind of worried that the grey would not match well with the factory Khaki color interior and there weren't alot of good pics on the internet to give a good idea what the actual color looked like up close. After installing it though I think the boom mat color compliments the factor interior just fine.

Makes a heck of a difference. Ordered after I returned from a driving trip to Las Vegas where the daily temp was well over 100 everyday. Ordered these after I returned home to KC and got them installed just before a week of heat advisories started. Man, the temp difference is amazing. Cooler inside even before AC is turned on and now after turning the AC on within 10 min I can turn the fan down till it’s comfortable inside. Definitely can recommend these. All pre-cut to fit and easily installed. My biggest concern was the 3M adhesive strips used would get hot and melt causing the panels to drop. With temps in excess of 95 for several days it hasn’t happened and while it’s only been 2 weeks since install, all is good. Well worth the $280 cost.

Well over Memorial Day weekend I bought my first long overdue Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with Hardtop as a retirement present!I live in South Florida and driving home from dealership I realized this is going to need some type of inside insulation before summer. I scoured the internet and this company (DEI) kept coming up as the best. So I ordered the kit in a couple days it came. Next day I followed instructions and began installing panels took a little over an hour and half (take your time). Looked incredible and fits well, but the next day would tell it if it works. Well it hit a record 96 degrees I got in and knew it felt a lot cooler than without panels. I turned the AC on and within 10 minutes of driving I could turn it on low whereas before it wouldn’t keep really cool on high! I’m sold costs a little more but money was well spent! Also makes sounds system and conversations sound way better too! Try it your’ll love it!

I have noticed a big difference in sound and in heat retention ( I live in Canada ).My stereo sounds amazing now, great acoustics. The panel in the back seat will go on easier if you take the hardtop off. Took me about an hour to install .

i waited a little before i did the review. i installed this about 6 weeks ago. i live in the desert southwest with summer temperatures over 100 degrees. our jeep was so hot the air conditioner was always on high and you could still feel the radiating heat on your head from the extreme temperature of the roof. this really did the trick! it really made a huge difference. i was worried the temperature would affect how the adhesive held. but so far so good. it also made a big difference in sound absorption. people can hear me better now when i use the bluetooth for calls. i did go the extra mile when it came to installation. i did not risk just sticking these on while the top was still on the jeep. i laid down some heavy blankets on the garage floor and turned the hard top upside down. i also found laying out all the little foam strips to match the indentations of the roof was a good idea. they are different sizes to match and fill the indentations so the big pieces lay more evenly. i cleaned the inside surface of the top with denatured alcohol and microfiber cloth. i’m telling you…… you only get one chance to position this! there’s no pulling it off to move it a little…. nope. not sure what the sticky surface is, but it’s forever. i have found that the paper liner you pull off is in two sections on the bigger pieces. so you position the foam pieces with the paper liners on and then fold up half, pull the liner and then press it down. repeat on the other side and it looks perfect. i even found a way to use this technique on the small pieces for the freedom tops. two of my friends have also bought these for their jeeps, and i helped them with theirs. it is worth the little extra effort taking the top off and working on its apart from the jeep itself. i love the product. it has performed as described. it was worth the investment.

Headliner is easy to install but need 2 people to do it. Not only is it sound deadening, it also provides some insulation from the heat in summer and cold in winter.

Upon opening the box I was slightly disappointed with the product. I guess I was expecting something different, like the headliner to be made of a much denser type of foam. This foam is about an inch thick and very light and airy. Less dense than say cushioning foam...by far! It does have a nice black finish on one side which will look nice and give the roof a finishing touch but I can't imagine that it is going to offer much in the way of insulation or "sound deading" except maybe to soften inside acoustics a bit. But judging from sight, touch and feel it seems extremely over priced for what it is. If I had personally examined this product prior to ordering I woud not have paid this kind of a price. Maybe half this much. Perhaps it will perform better than it appears it will?I will update the review after I have installed it.UPDATE: I have installed the headliner and so far I am impressed. It was a fairly simple install and it looks great, especially compared to the white plastic look of the original top. It does make the vehicle somewhat quieter, but better than that, the insulation factor is even more noticeable! Before installing this headliner the sun would beat down on the top and make the interior unbearably hot, even on 70 degree days. With the headliner installed I have noticed a major decrease in the interior temperature even on extremely hot 90 degree days. If for no other reason the headliner is worth the insulation value alone.I have changed my review to 5 stars based on performance and looks. I still think it's a little on the expensive side but I'm glad I made the purchase.
