I used these fasteners to secure a fabricated heat shield to exhaust system pipe. The metal color of these fasteners seems to be high quality metal looking like high stainless content. They provide half inch space between the pipe and the heat shield. They worked perfectly.

I used these to attach heat shields to the muffler of my 8.1L motorhome. They maintained an air gap between the muffler and shield, for proper installation.

This kit comes with brackets appropriate for use with metal strap hose clamps. (The one thing good about the kit, and the only reason it gets 1 star.) The kit also has bolts, nuts, and washers, to allow you to create a variety of standoff and mount combinations. But the nuts and bolts supplied, while intended to go together, do not. The threads on the bolts do not fit the threads on the nuts. In a supposedly professional kit. The kits has no quality control or check systems in place when contract manufacturers substitute parts that do not even go together.In addition to the nuts and bolts not threading together, neither the nuts nor the bolts has large enough heads to properly "jam" in the bracket. This makes it very difficult to use these bolts and actually assemble anything as the bolt head (if the intended jam) will just spin. (And it will make removing it some "later" day ABSOLUTELY impossible, as the head will again just spin as you attempt to loosen the bolt. Renders this a permanent lifetime assembly, not intended.) Same for the nuts (too small) if one were to reverse nut and bolt direction. Also came with hex nuts, but should have really been equipped with square nuts to perform better as a "jam", and work the same as a external nut (with a larger driver hex socket.) The product picture (this ad) from Design Engineering pictures a LARGER bolt head than supplied. (The pictured unit *might* possibly jam properly, the supplied one will not.) The picture hex nut actually thread all the way through on the bolts supplied (you can see a bolt threaded all the way through in the picture), the supplied bolts DO NOT.Basically, you are paying a LOT of money, for the brackets. Total fail from Design Engineering, as they clearly did not specify the product to their China producer, who substituted different head sizes, and substituted bolts and nuts that did not even have the same thread count. Just unacceptable.

I wish this was cheaper, or you got more in a kit. I need about 40 to get all the heat shields on my corvette.
