The material used is very stiff and does not feel very good at all. Looking at the pic and some the older user reviews I believe they are using different material which is a not rough and not soft. I know it is not real leather but did expect better.

As previous reviews mention, does not fit 8th Gen Civic. Much too large even with trimming. If you have a larger shifter it's a nice boot, but do not order for 8th Gen Civic.

This shift boot was somewhat easy to install, I had to cut it so i can get the right length I wanted but it turned out looking great.

Replaced the knob in my 2012 G37s so I wanted to replace the worn boot as well. For only $12 total, you can't really complain. Take your time and the end result will look pretty decent. My tip for anyone doing this is to have a lot of zipties on hand. The red stitching might not go all the way up so you'll have to flip it inside out and adjust the metal ring before zipping it secure with the zip ties. And leave room when you're cutting it to length. Not a problem if it's a little long but too short and you have a problem.

rip out your old one and push this one in place this product is a very thick durable weather for the money it was about three times thicker than OEM and it looks really good definitely would recommend this to replace oem

I recently bought this shift boot as the one that came with my car was peeling like no tomorrow . I bought this because I really liked the look of the red stitching and this was one of the better prices with Prime Shipping. While reading this review please keep in mind that this is a "universal" fit shift boot. Meaning in some (read as most) cases it will require some type of modification. Also my car is a 2007 Pontiac G5/Chevy Cobalt.First I will spend some time talking about the quality of the product and then I will get into the install.I was overall unimpressed by the quality of the product, it is neither amazing but it's not bad. Like other reviewers, I wasn't a fan of the quality of the stitching as it is uneven on the last seam (the one that brings it together) but luckily it isn't super noticeable on installation (see attached picture it is the upper left stitch). During installation, the stitching also started to fall apart, but it was partly my fault (I will touch on this more in the installation section). The vinyl itself feels smooth and like its coated with some UV protection which is nice to help it last for a little longer. The red color was really bright and I liked it a lot. The boot itself is really long (to accommodate for a variety of vehicles) and I ended up finding the ring to be too small to actually fit (once again will touch on how I got around this in the installation section. Overall, you get what you pay for, and for the price it was a good buy. If you are looking for a budget shift boot, I would reccomend it as long as you are up to tinkering around with it a little.On to the installation process.It was a relatively easy install (took about 30 minutes [Pontiac G5]) and I spent most of the time trying to get it perfect. My old shift boot was attached to a frame and the ring on the top was designed to lock into the bottom of the shift knob. So those were two parts I needed to transfer over in order to make the replacement fit like OEM. One thing I did which I recommend you avoid is cutting it. Because it was so long, I cut the boot shorter to meet the original length of the OEM boot so I could mount it on the frame better. However, due to this I noticed that the stitches were falling out and I had to tie knots in the thread on all the corners to keep it from unraveling. So avoid cutting if you can. I then mounted it to the frame and tried to match it up as the stock boot was (cut holes where there were clips and reattached it with staples).For the ring, I had to remove the silver one it came with (super easy to take off, invert it and remove the wire) and then take the ring from my stock shift boot and install it. The stock ring was bigger than the opening of the new shift boot, so the approach I took to get it to fit was to roll the new shift boot in from the top and the hole gets bigger! So the stock ring fit in fine (inverted the boot and reattached the wire to secure it) and just like that it had no problem fitting in.After installing it, I loved the way it looked. I have attached a picture showing what it looked like at the end (from a side angle)I was given this product at a discount for an honest review.
