Very sharp and heavy knife. It has a very nice weight to it. The only problem I have with it is that the food sticks to the knife.

Dexter, Russell, and later Dexter-Russell are premium brands that have been used by cooking professionals for decades. This particular model is special, it’s thin and sharp as a razor. Don’t buy it for hacking and cleaving, this is strictly a slicer and soft vegetable deicer. You also need to understand. THIS KNIFE WILL PUT YOU IN STITCHES IF YOU DISRESPECT IT. Because of the high carbon stainless steel, you may also see tiny rust spots if you put it through your dishwasher. This is not a defect. The rust will not grow, and if it bothers you, there are many fine generic chrome molly steel knives on the market. They are shinier, won’t ever rust, and are better suited to hacking and cleaving.I would like to again stress that this is a special knife, designed for cooking pros, and enthusiast. It’s not a family knife, it should be kept in a blade guard, and hopefully away from children, and the uninformed

Great knife for the home. I personally like it because it is light. It's easy to sharpen. Out of the box it was sharp, but I wanted to get it a little sharper. I had no problem sharpening it and it seems to hold it's edge pretty well. Bang for your buck I'd rate this 5/5.

I asked my friend who has a culinary degree what knife I could get without having to break the bank and she recommended this. She was not wrong. Takes very little effort to cut through a tomato. Highly recommend.

On a recommendation from a YTber, I ordered this because I actually need a chef's knife and I am happy I took the advice. Straight out of the heavy plastic packaging - this was a poor first impression as a)safety because it is so incredibly difficult to open while you are staring at this wieldy thing and b) why??? the packaging is dreadful. I get it - it's ot an expensive knife but c'mon. Wrap the blade in parchment, tie it up with a string and ship it in a slim box - cheaper, better fir the environment and wholly safer.Anyway - back to the knife, the blade is beautiful and super sharp and will probably last in my home kitchen for enough years to be worth saving money this go 'round. But the handle leaves a LOT to be desired - so far. The Hard Plastic bubbled(?) spiked(?) (IDK what you'd call it but it is not smooth or silicone - it is and feels super cheap. BUT- I am told this is a great knife, that it will last a long while, and I will get used to the handle and for me - I need a great chef's knife. I am happy I went for the 8" though. This thing is huge.

I never thought I could own a knife this sharp without spending a fortune. When I first got it, all I wanted to do was chop. When a knife can glide through a tomato like it's butter - wow. I will add a caution, though. I've already had an accident with it but luckily it just sliced through the top of my fingernail. I was slicing an onion and was a little careless but it has really alerted me and now I am extra careful realizing how much worse it could have been.

Review: Dexter Russel Cook's KnifeI recently purchased the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife after having a positive experience using similar knives in a gross anatomy lab. I must say, this knife lives up to its reputation and has become an indispensable tool in my kitchen.First and foremost, the sharpness of the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife is truly impressive. Just like the knives we used in the anatomy lab, this knife slices effortlessly through various ingredients, including tough rib bones, without any issues. It provides a level of precision and control that is essential when working with different cuts of meat or dense vegetables. The blade itself is of excellent quality, maintaining its sharpness over time. I have been using this knife regularly for several months now, and it still performs exceptionally well. The high-carbon stainless steel blade not only retains its edge but is also resistant to staining and corrosion, making it a durable and long-lasting option.Another aspect I appreciate about this knife is its ergonomic design. The handle provides a comfortable grip, allowing for extended use without discomfort or fatigue. This is particularly important when preparing elaborate meals that require repetitive cutting motions.Furthermore, the balance of the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife is superb. The weight is evenly distributed between the blade and the handle, ensuring optimal control and reducing the risk of accidental slips or mishaps. This is especially valuable when working with larger cuts of meat or when executing delicate slicing techniques. In terms of maintenance, the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife is relatively easy to clean. I recommend hand washing it promptly after each use to maintain its performance and appearance. Additionally, the knife's design does not feature any hard-to-reach crevices or edges that can trap food particles, further simplifying the cleaning process.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife. Its remarkable sharpness, durability, comfortable grip, and well-balanced design make it an exceptional tool for any home cook. Whether you're slicing through rib bones or handling everyday ingredients, this knife consistently delivers outstanding results. I highly recommend adding the Dexter Russel Cook's Knife to your kitchen arsenal.

It's a great affordable knife. Nice that it's made in the U.S. too. It sharpens easily on my diamond stone, and holds an edge well, especially with regular steel-rod honing. I like this knife line from Dexter. They also make my favorite serrated knife, with a similar grippy handle.Comfortable shape, good weight balance, quite light, cuts right!
