Bought it due to so many good reviews. Put it on my Canon Vixia HF G30, charged it, turned on camera, ERROR can't communicate with battery. I can still use the battery, it powers the camera, however it will be a best guess and learning experience to see how long it really last and it's reliability. So as far as giving it a good rating, I can't because my camera can't talk to it.

At first I was happy, because the battery worked and had a long run time. But now, just a few months after purchase and only 3 or 4 times actually using it, the battery pins are not connecting to the camera and the camera comes on and off intermittently. If you press the battery while using it, it makes the pins connect and works. The problem only happens with this battery so it seems the pins are not making contact, or have oxidized. Now I am very disappointed and regret my purchase.

It is a great battery for long shoots but it takes over 4 hours to charge.

I purchased 2 of these batteries, and a battery charger for my Canon XA-11 hoping that they would work. I received them this afternoon and charged the first battery and tried it in my camcorder. It fit fine, and works fine. The time remaining indicator says 230 minutes. I'm not sure how that compares to an authentic BP-828 battery from Canon, but for 1/5th the price of a canon battery - I don't really care!NOTE: All I have done is powered up the camcorder, I haven't put them under "real use" to see how long they actually last.

This battery works in my Canon Vixia HFG 60 and battery information is displayed. My other Vixia batteries (hfs200) will not work in the HFG 60, even the Canon battery that came with the hfs200 will not work. They will power it up then a message pops up that battery is not compatible and powers down.

I tested this on a Canon VIXIA GX10 4k camcorder. It is slightly longer than the stock battery, but is also slightly lighter (can't tell unless you weight it). It clicks into the camcorder just fine, and charges without any issue in the camcorder. You couldn't tell you are using a third party battery. It is decoded so it shows the remaining minutes. In 4k mode, it indicated 129 minutes of recording. BUT, i felt I got around 90 minutes of recording before feeling like I should change the battery since the remaining minutes was dropping faster than I would like. Maybe I was using the zoom excessively. I suspect the stock Canon battery buffers the capacity so that you still get 120 minutes even if you use it heavily. So I still recommend the original Canon bp-828 battery if you can afford it ($148.98 as of 1/14/2018). But if you are on a budget, this Digital DC brand battery might something you can have as a backup.Also, if you own several batteries and just throw them in a bag, get some battery covers like these

Purchased two BP-828 Li-Ion 5-Hour Rechargeable batteries and great performance and work great with my Canon VIXIA HF G40 Camcorder. The use time depends on how much you use the zoom for close-ups. The batteries are compatible with VIXIA HF G40 Camcorder and the camera displays the battery percent charge correctly. This is a great product at great price. I do as lot of Photo and Video work and the batteries have performed flawlessly, no problems using the batteries. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Updated NOV 2017:This battery worked very well for almost two years, providing 3-4 hours of usable time. This month, almost 2 years later, it became unreliable and I can't use it anymore -- my charger says it charges to 100% -- my camera reports it's at 100%, then about 5 minutes into the shoot it's down to 70%... within a minute or two it drops progressively to 50%, 20%, "CHANGE YOUR BATTERY" .I give it 3 stars because before this behavior it was working very well and I was pleased, but effectively it's unusable now -- if I didn't have spares in the field I would have been in big trouble! (good thing pros always have spares!)Original Review NOV 2015:Charge lasts super-long.. very pleased.

Note that you may not get 5 hours of video performance from this battery. My camcorder indicates that it will run for 249 minutes rather than 300. I wrote to the seller about this issue and I received this reply: "The battery duration never shows the full 5 hours. The reason is most camcorders havetheir settings set to video and photography. When video is involved the time is a little less. If it were set to photography only then you would see thefull 300 minutes." This explanation may be perfectly reasonable and true for all or most camcorder batteries but be aware of this situation.
