Great deal on a compact, sensitive tach that requires no clamp or wire. Just hold it near spark plug boot or wire. Well packaged and delivered quickly. Very responsive and great for adjusting RPM's. Simple to operate and seems well made. Comes with battery.Highly recommended.

This small digital readout tachometer works terrific for setting RPM parameters on small engines such as chainsaws. Simply clamp the lead onto a spark plug wire then start your engine. You are now ready to adust your carburetor to match the technical RPM specs for your engne.

Appeared to produce a logical engine speed at idle (700 rpm) on my small engine, but that only lasted about 30 seconds. After that, it would produce seemingly random numbers regardless of the indecipherable settings. Instructions state that modes 1, 2, 3 correspond to number of revolutions per strokes, or something like that. I've never heard of a 1 or 3-stroke engine. Don't waste your time/money. This was a coin toss between a pulse tach and a photo tach. I should have gotten a photo tach. But let's be real here. I'd probably be writing a negative review of that as well. Go to a real website or store that sells real equipment. Skip Amazons budget-friendly electronic tools. I'm at about a 50% success rate with crap from Amazon these days. I'm done.
