It adds texture to my projects

I bought this for use on a distressed chalk painted vanity I am working on, but decided to play with it on some small pieces. The left is Dixie Dirt and the right is dark wax. While I’m sure it has its applications in other situations this was not what I was expecting. I was looking an alternative method to dark wax to age/antique chalk painted furniture. While it may be nice for shading (I haven’t tried it for that), it does not give me the desired effect of bringing out the details in crevices. I watched the how to video on the company youtube page before buying and heard both could give you an antique look, it also seemed like you would have more control with the dixie dirt depending on how you placed the wax before applying. I found that I had less control with the dixie dirt. I applied one coat of clear wax, let that cure for over 24 hours then went in with a small amount of wax again targeted in the crevices. I applied the dixie dirt with an old makeup brush, then dusted off excess. While I think it does add a “dirty” look, I couldn’t achieve what I consider an antique or aged look with this product alone. Even with targeted wax application it seemed to just spread over the whole area equally. I tried to clean off the ridges to increase definition but with little success. This may be the perfect look for some people but I would not call it an alternative to dark wax

First time trying a Dixie product and decided to go with this since I’ve been looking into it for a bit. Did not disappoint! Omgosh came out beautiful! Redid a chair and a mini curio cabinet with the Ash! Loved so much ordered the brown and black! Will be definitely using for future products. It adds depth lol and age to your art piece! Had so many compliments about finished products! Love!!!

The product was just as I expected but I didn't know there are other colors from which to choose :(
