I took one out of the box and slid it into my 18 volt grinder and it seemed to fit well. I attached a genuine DeWalt battery and it slid around like it was about to fall off. I tried the other one and again, the fit was sloppy and didn't feel secure at all. I placed them back in the plastic bags and gently packed them back in the box with the intent to return them since they were obviously too flimsy to hold up to any serious use. When I was processing the return I came to realize there was cost to ship them back because I'm over 100 miles from a UPS store. I'm disgusted with myself for not reading the return policy as I usually do before making any purchases. So even with taking a hit on shipping, I'll learn my lesson and send them back given the flimsy loose fitting nature of the item. I didn't check to see if the novelty USB charger worked.

Works as it should. I purchased it as an adapter to use my dewalt 20v batteries with my older 18v tools. Works great.

Yep, as I said in title, this snapped firmly onto my old 18v tools without any looseness, etc. It's not going anywhere. Takes both hands and pressure to release it, I was very happy to see that.Having the usb port so you could plug a phone into it to get a quick charge or anything else is a bonus plus. Great fit, worked just fine on all my old 18v tools with a 20v MAX 5AH battery.

This is definitely a good investment at a low price to get indefinitely more use out of good older DeWalt tools.I've got 2 older DeWalt cordless drills which have long outlasted their original NiCad batteries. I've always resisted buying new tools since the ones I have are perfectly good, save for the batteries. This adapter is the perfect solution.If you are looking at this item, you are probably in the same boat. Just get this and some generic aftermarket lithium battery packs and charger, and you're all set.The best part about this adapter (besides the 5V USB connector) is that it also will accept Milwaukee 18 V batteries. I happen to have a couple of inexpensive knock-off Milwaukee batteries and a generic charger for them, and they work great with this adapter.The adapter adds a tiny bit of bulk, which is unavoidable. I think they made it as compact as possible. But the bulk is more than made up for by the fact that modern lithium ion battery packs are much lighter in weight than the old school NiCads.Conclusion: this adapter plus some generic lithium packs plus generic charger -- still cheaper than a whole new DeWalt drill, battery and charger. It's a no-brainer for me.
