This belt tension gauge works best in light-duty applications as the range is only up to 10lbs. The measurements seem accurate and repeatable. It would have been nice if instructions were included on how to read tension with this style of meter - I had to google it as I hadn't used this style of gauge before.

It feels kind of cheap and it only has a 10 lb marking on the rod.

Testing belt deflection is a pain in the rear but at least having the tool to do it is enough. I have not seen many of these for sale. I was I'm school for industrial maintenance and this tool was one of several we used to setup a machine which drove a belt. The belt has to be tensioned properly to reduce wear on the belt and motor bearings. Under tight the belt can fall off, fail to turn the pulley or get caught and rip. Over tight the belt will wear faster along with the bearings on the motor. I am going to use this tool on an infinity that does not have self tensioning pulleys so this is very important for that use case. It's one of those tools nobody ever has. It's cheap and it does one job. This one is decent and it will do the job well enough. Same quality if not better than the tool I used in the classroom.

I thought this took was well made. There were no instruction included, so I recommend watching several how-to videos before you use the gauge. Once you see how it is to be used, it is easy.
