Stainless steel shaft and a quality metal casting make this the undisputed leader of marine hydraulic steering. Bought it on sale for under $500 to replace a 20+ yr old pump which needed a new $30 seal so it that is now a working spare or I might sell it. The angle fitting have been upgraded from brass to stainless steel.

The real thing, not a knockoff. Installed easily. Tips received from teleflex tech support: Do not use gasket or butyl tape behind flange. Instead after mounting just run a bead of polyurethane caulk around helm to console junction. Makes it easy to remove, just cut bead with razor knife. This helm worked perfectly after bleeding.

Replaced an older baystar 1.4 with this. Wish I hadn't hesitated. With my new 140hp Suzuki it's perfect. Easy to turn, but not too many turns end to end

I bought this helm to replace the Sytten helm on my boat. It is delivered with only 2 ORB fittings but 3 are needed, which means ordering an extra one, but they are only sold in pairs. They are expensive and having to buy 2 to get one makes them absurdly expensive. I will not know how well this helm works until the boat is re-launched in spring.
