Replaced my old teleflex steering system beautifully with exact same mount points. Plug and play set up. Good instructions.

I installed this steering system and cable on my 19' boat. I went from a Seastar rack and pinion to this rotary system. Works awesome. All I can say is measure your old cable BEFORE you order a new one, or go by the instructions online on how to fit it. I even contacted SeaStar/Dometic before placing my order they will help you on how to measure for their steering system.

On our 2001 18 foot bayliner we swapped out the old rack and pinion for this new Rotary Style steering.. Was a difficult project but its like having a new boat..Most difficulties were at the outboard getting the old rod removed, but a rubber mallet and about an hour of pounding it came out.Its a good product!

Excellent product, does what it says it supposed to do, steering works great and no feedback.

Purchased this helm to replace an old Safe-T II helm. The NFB feature works great and the helm seems smooth. However, the old helm was 4-turns stop-to-stop; this helm is 3-turns - noticeable increase in steering effort. If replacing a 4-turn helm look for the "NFB 4.2" helm.

I bought the rotary steering as a replacement for an old Teleflex rack and pinion system that went bad. The rotary system has more resistance in the cable and drum and is called "no feedback" because of this increased resistance. You will not feel the motor twisting against your hand like the rack and pinion system did ... the down side is ... it is stiffer to turn and ... there is no feedback from the motor. With the rotary NFB system, you will no longer be able to grab the motor and turn it and the steering system if you want to adjust or straighten the motor while it is sitting on the trailer at home. The standard steering wheel for this system is 13" instead of the 14" size Teleflex used on the rack and pinion set ups. With the increased resistance, I wish I had looked around for a 14" instead of using the standard 13" wheel. You will probably pay more, but it will be easier to use.
