My house was built in the 40's so has had quite a lot of settling over the years, which leads to crooked doorways. I fixed the front door the hard way: opening and closing the door 18646993 times; after every adjustment on each ring of each hinge, with vise grips. Had no idea something like this existed & man, I'm so glad I found out when it came up in my recommended list. It shaved hours off the task of fixing the remaining 3 doors. Happy to have this in my toolbox, ready for the next inevitable door shift :)

While the tool does work in limited circumstances, it does not work well, more often than it does. The size of the product makes adjustment or use impossible whenever there is a perpendicular wall immediately adjacent and the door swings inward... which is nearly EVERY door in our home! I could see this being more useful in a commercial setting where doors are more often placed in the center of a wall as opposed to close to a corner. Scratches both the hinges and itself very easily. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

it works well, and I was able to easily adjust the hinges on my exterior door. The materials are strong and sturdy and it helped me align the hinges so that the door frame and door did not drag on the top of the frame. It works well actually, at a good price too.

I'm surprised I never came across this tool before. I had a door that was poorly aligned since the house was bult. After so many attempts to correct it, I came across this tool which was just what was needed. In a matter of seconds, it bent the hinge to where it needed to be and aligned the door.

Disappointing! The door hinge adjustment tool didn't fit any of the hinges in my house. I specifically looked for a tool that said "residential" so I could be certain it would solve my door problems, but this tool didn't.There are two sizes of hinge in my house; external doors have one size and interior doors have a smaller size. Curiously, this device didn't fit either. It's too large. I saw many hinge adjustment tools of this size so I inferred this size to be a standard. If that's the case, my hinges are small.Regarding the tool itself, it's constructed to be strong and sturdy. There is no doubt it can adjust hinges, even heavy ones. This is a well-built tool. It's impressive. If it fits your hinges, it will certainly be able to adjust them.I'll be having a new house built in the coming year. Now that I know more about hinges, I'll make an effort to install standard sizes. I may yet be able to use this tool.I won't downgrade my assessment of this tool simply because it didn't fit my hinges. It's a strong, well-built tool. It loses a star because it's not as universal as I expected.

Favation Store - Door Hinge Bender - Adjustment Tool, .134 and .180 Gauge Hinges - What's good is that the tool ends are the right diameters for residential hinges and the slots for the hinge plates is wide enough to fit without having to remove the doors. A word of caution - if you try to bend the hinges with the door attached as shown in the description, you'll be levering against the edge of the door trim or casing. You'll likely crush that section of the casing. I noticed this before I did any damage and decided to remove the pin and pull the door off. I also noticed that with the hinge plate in place on the door, you can apply too much force and will actually pull the screws out of the door. So, in the end, I pulled the door off, removed the butt plate, and did the bending on a bench vise. The tool still worked and is a little easier than using an adjustable wrench to bend the hinge pin loops. The tool itself is well made and has a durable finish. The longer handle helps when applying force to adjust the hinges. Every door installation is different with different variables, so I can't say my experience was typical. While observing the tool interface with the door hinges while I was applying force, I was using the smaller diameter end, and I thought that if the fit was a little tighter, more of the bending force would apply to the end of the hinge, closer to the loop and might have less tendency to pull the hinge plate off the door. Still it's a useful tool. It fits the application, and with care, it can do the job.

I think this hardware is well made. That said, if you don't have a large hinge that perfectly fits the slot, there is a bit of play in there. That meant that the door I was trying to realign was unable to adjust without major damage to the relatively thick wood trim around the door. I would also guess that if you had an old wood frame in not very good shape, you may also start to pull the hinge screws out of the door frame. If this is used otherwise, I think it's about the quickest way to make an adjustment to your door alignment.
