I needed a set of door lock cylinders only because I had no key to unlock. These seemed like an affordable option and looked the same. However, these are dimensionally different than the stock cylinders in my 2003 ford ranger. These are held in by a clip in two opposing channels on the cylinder. The channel on the new part is more narrow than the original and the clip only engages one side of the lock. After bending and manipulating the clip, I got it better but it is still not a great engagement. Once installed and upon testing the key, you have to wiggle the key and find the sweet spot to get the key out of the lock. If you are unlocking you have to turn the key back to where you have started to lock again and know when to stop. Disappointing for sure, but I can’t say I’m surprised at yet another poorly engineered Chinese product being hocked by Amazon. The product got one star from me because I was able to make it work although the functionality is terrible

These locks replace the originals perfectly and require no tools to install. Note, no instructions come with these parts, however you can find excellent how-to videos on YouTube. Also note that the black and white plastic clips should point towards the rear of the vehicle when you install them; it probably doesn’t matter which color goes on which side, but I put the black on the driver’s side and the white on the passenger side, and they work perfectly. It truly is a five minute fix to replace both door locks on your vehicle.

'98 Ford RangerThey function, so it's better than my previous broken lock, but they are honestly terrible quality.Key has to be finagled to get the tumblers to sit right, doesn't line up so you can't take the key out until you open the door or else you'll lock it or unlock it to get the key out.Just terrible. Don't bother purchasing unless you don't mind a product that hardly functions and will likely wear out soon. I'm not the only one who has a review like this, so purchase knowing you'll likely be disappointed.
