Definitely sturdy and reliable. It’s on my wall next to my toilet to assist me in standing up. Big help for these old knees.

I put it in the doorway for my 93 year old mother to be able to walk thru the house to the bathroom, she loves it.

Added on sides of small (2steps) landing to assist my elderly mother. Easy to install - assists her greatly to transition steps to walker.

This support seems very strong and well-made and I think it will work very well in places you cannot install a regular rail. Or where you want something to grab if needed so you do not grab at something unsafe if you were to misstep on the stair. It fits and folds nicely on a door jamb or on the wall beside the doorway, but folds neatly out of the way when not needed. There are no rough spots, poorly covered spots, etc anywhere on the device. The checking on the handle makes for a nice, secure grip. They give you a set of 4 screws for mounting it on wood, and a set of 4 with anchor pieces for mounting it on drywall, but I would definitely want it mounted on a wooden stud for safest mount. There are also 2 reflective strips to mount by the flip assist handle so you can see where it is at night, but they may be limited on types of surface they will stick onto very well. They stuck a tag on it indicating which way is up so you do not accidentally install it upside down, which was nice of them. The picture of it showing shape, texture of handle, the seller provided is very accurate. There is no nasty smell to it from the rubber-like handle.I think it is advisable to have a helper to make it easier to determine exactly where to place it for maximum effective use for the person who will be the main user. There was a square piece of paper with a hold in the center included, which I assume is meant for a template, or maybe a thin pad between it and the surface- but not sure why you'd need it- you can mark where to drill mounting holes with a pencil.

I installed this on a door that goes from the house into the garage, and has a couple of steps down. My parents are elderly and they were grabbing all kind of things to help themselves down the steps, and it simply wasn't safe for them.I think I would have like the plate to be a little longer, so it would have been easier to get the cordless drill in there to drill the holes and drive the screws, but it was okay. I also would have appreciated an extra screw or two, or even an option for longer screws, as I need to use a few of my own in the end. There is a little bit of play from side-to-side in the handle, but it's of no concern. Once it is in the down position, the person can put as much weight on it as they need and it is not going anywhere. However, those reflective strips are useless. They don't stick at all. I'm not sure why they bothered with them.

My wife is having mobility problems, especially when climbing the four steps from our garage into our house. She is afraid of falling. The flip assist handle mounted just outside the door gives her added support while getting into the house and gives her confidence she will not fall.
