Does exactly what you think they do. Never had a leak issue. Just use a new washer every time you change the oil and torque the drain bolt in tight enough.

Fits 2023 Subaru Forester Premium. Gave this a good hand snug crank with a 6" long ratchet and it hasn't leaked for the past couple hundred miles thus far. Great fit: just as good as the OEM gasket. Nice price.

It's a joke that Subaru needs a crush washer to make a seal but oh well, that's the way things go. BTW, make sure you torque the drain plug (oil) to 30.8 ft/lbs. I initially installed the crush washer and tightened everything up and still it leaked. Then I contacted my Subaru dealer and found out it needs to be tightened to the 30.8 ft/lbs and it finally stopped leaking.

Bought a Toyota 86 last March (five months ago). Changed the oil at 5k miles. Noted the washer but, like my 2003 Toyota Tundra (which I just replaced the drain plug gasket this last oil change), didn't give a thought to replacing it; I figured it was good for a while (like the Tundra). I was wrong.I guess the difference is the Tundra washer is a vinyl type thing which worked fine until I noticed some cracks in it this last oil change. It was 18 years old so I figured at this point a new drain plug gasket wouldn't hurt... heh.Back to the Toyota 86, which of course we all know is basically a Subaru engine where the block is concerned. It uses a crush washer on the oil drain plug; not the same as the washers on my 1st gen Tundra. The ones on the 86 are basically single-use washers and won't reliably seal after being "crushed" once. I found this out after I realized my poor 86 was hemorrhaging oil like an arterial bleed with puddles forming right under the drain plug. Didn't leak at all before I changed the oil so I knew it was 99.99% the drain plug gasket. At least I hoped so.Ordered these new crush washers. Perfect fit. Put the flat side against the bolt head, curved side toward the drain pan, and torque it to 29ft/lbs. Stuck some cardboard under the car and so far hasn't leaked a drop. They're cheap. Get these and use a new one every oil change.

After doing my first oil change on my Subaru I used the drain plug gaskets and they didn't leak. I gave it only 4 stars because some of the gaskets are blemished and I definitely don't think that it's rust but even if I don't use them I'll still be saving money then buying them from Subaru. Also not that I'm against OEM parts but I'm not paying the same amount for 1 or 2 OEM gaskets!

The gaskets are fine, BUT when I opened the box there was only 9. I paid for 10. Others complained of the same issue. Who is counting these things.

I had picked up 10 crush gaskets and 10 filters from the Subaru dealership when the warranty was up on my wife's 2012 Forester (2.5 H4 / NA / PZEV). She loves that thing to death, so eventually, I ran out of parts.I knew Amazon would get me the parts I needed faster than I'd get them if I ordered more from a dealership, and I decided to give these a try. Although Amazon's part finder says that these don't fit a 2012 Forester, they absolutely do. I confirmed with Dorman's parts guide before ordering. As far as I can tell, side-by-side, these are identical in size and construction to OEM Subaru parts. They fit the drain plug perfectly, they crush properly. No leaks, no trouble.I just wish Amazon carried the same Dorman part for my Acura!
