I had originally found the OE part that's going for $90. Finding this one for $10 it was a no brainer.Took 2 min to install, and now my right barn door will stay open.

The right back door of my Suburban hit my butt every time I was loading groceries so I investigated that door strap and there was a little part broken off at the end which supposed to keep the door wide open. I found the new strap here on Amazon at this seller and it was reasonable priced and shipped very fast. I am very proud putting it in myself as a woman with no knowledge of auto repair - saved me a ton of money. Thank you!!!

The material this replacement part is made of is too malleable and does not keep its shape. The hooked part of the check that hooks onto the door bent out of its shape after opening and closing the door just a few times. This makes it so the door does not have the ability to stay open. I took the part off, fixed it, and reinstalled it only for it bend out of shape again after opening and closing the door once.

So, my GMC YUKON rear door guide check strap was broken. I ordered a new door guide and it was a breeze to install. WHY DID I WAIT YEARS to do this?? Anyhow, very happy with the rear door guide. My barn door NOW stays open & doesn't open too far.. Works like new again..

This strap broke on my truck years ago. I've been procrastinating, because I didn't actually look to see how easy it would be, and how cheap the part is. It's a 5 minute job, at most, and you only need a flat screwdriver and needle nose pliers. No e-clip tool required.There's a single e-clip at the bottom of the pin on the truck side. I pried it down with the screwdriver, so I could grip it with the needle nose pliers. Once the e-clip is out tap the pin a few times, and it should come out easily. It's not tight fitting, like a hinge pin. Don't worry about the spring, it isn't under tension. It won't fly off. It just kinda lays there.Once you have it apart, there's a spring and plastic sheath. Put the spring into place, and then put the plastic piece in. Then it's just pushing the pin back in with your fingers, and popping the E clip back on.The only hard part is, the end of the old hinge strap broke off and fell into the door. I hear it rattling every time I open and close the door. Removing the panel and fishing that out is a job for another day.
