My fathers 1997 grand marquis sprung a leak on this pipe. I called the dealer and they ordered me one off of the VIN. It came in after a week and had a rubber hose end on it... didn't think much about it and started removing the old one. His original one did NOT have the rubber end. I headed back to the dealer and they looked up the pipe for a 1998 (even though its a 1997 and they changed the body style in 1998 which his is not) The dealer could not find anything that matched up to the original and basically told me I was SOL. One that looked like this was the only thing he showed. The original one was like a hybrid I would guess. It looks identical to this one but has two mounting tabs on it which are small (not like the bracket this one has) I used a cutoff wheel to remove the bracket and make it the same shape as the original. It worked out perfectly even with only one mount.A few things that will help anyone looking to tackle this job.1. It can absolutely be done without removing the intake. Removing the wiper cowl, wipers, wiper motor, and seal is mandatory. Remove the heater core hoses, EGR controller/hoses and a few bolts. Alternator removal is required but very easy.2. You'll need new O-Rings for the nipple at the waterpump. (just buy 626-571 and use the rings as the dealer wants $13 each per o-ring) (make sure to lube them up)3. Getting the pipe off of the nipple isn't easy, but with the right prybar/leverage, it can be done by just removing the alternator.Unfortunately Amazon will not let me post pictures of the new compared to old since I purchased it locally.

Although after receiving it I ended up buying the OEM part. The one here seemed like it should fit fine. To make this work on my 2000 mercury grand marquis I needed to buy a new nipple that comes out of the back of the water pump for this to attach to. With out the nipple this pipe will not make a water tight seal. The new OEM nipple is different then the old one on the car and if you change the pipe with out the new nipple it WILL NOT hold a seal. This is true regardless of weather you go Dorman or OEM. The part number is F75Z-8555-AA. You have to remove the water pump and tap the old nipple out with a chisel from the engine side out. (Its pressed on). Tap the new nipple in from the water pump side and only then will you have a proper nipple to interface with this pipe. Just trying to help here. It took a while before I figured this out. Check with Dorman and/or Ford since different years may require a different nipple. I wouldn't know.
