Great idea! I did have to file the opening wider in order for it to fit over an oem Ford thermostat housing though. Fits perfectly now and does it's job. Didn't come with torque specs so as I tightened it wasn't sure when it was enough because the oring it came with was smooshing.

Instructions are a little lacking but if you put it over the goose neck and use this gasket instead of the stock thermostat gasket it works perfectly. I had a consistent leak from the thermostat housing and this fixed it

If you use the Motorcraft thermostat neck, buy this for it! The hold down plate is 1/4" stainless and the bolt heads are 10mm NOT 8mm like stock. This seal kit, along with the stock FOMOCO tstat outlet neck, is a darn near guaranteed no leak tsat neck. The 1/4" plate really forces the gasket to seat. Now if money is no object, go billet. This is the cheaper alternative that should last, at least 20 years, as my first one did.

Looks like a gasket it’s just a metal spacer that makes you use to gaskets so twice the chance of a leak

This fixed my leaky thermostat neck. The gasket is a little taller that normal which great. The plate keeps the surface flat. You can't ask for more. I put a little rtv out of habit, but I don't think it needed it
