Replacing the shift shaft is not an easy task. I had to take apart much of the dash, the instrument panel and drop the steering column. Many of the screws are vey difficult to get at. But the part itself seems to be of good quality, and the truck now shifts much better than it did. Ford has a big problem with these shafts breaking. We'll see how long this one lasts.

Many people say to order the part from Ford because this Dorman part is made in China. To that I say, if the Ford part was so good to begin with, why did it snap in 2 pieces and make me buy a new one? I think I will take the risk. Installations went as expected, you will have to either buy new retaining pins or use your old ones if they are salvageable. Now my shifter doesn't flop around and feels like it should when shifting through gears. Only thing is I wish these came with the rubber stops that go between the shift lever pivot and the tube, but I can fashion something up I am sure.
