Good product. It fits 1999 Honda Civic. I recommend you also buy a box of plastic retainer clips for a few dollars, because you have to remove about ten clips to do this job, and half of them will break when you remove them. I followed a YouTube video and it took me about 2 hours to do this repair. The only negative thing is that when you're done, the handle with the car emblem will be turned 90 degrees and makes it look ghetto. But it works fine.

It does the job, but you have to pull hard to open, and then push it back into place to lock the hood closed.Would of returned it, but can't be bothered to replace the cable again..

Matched original Honda part, under dash attachment was easy, routing over inner fender well to latch was more difficult. As other has mentioned small plastic clips that hold the cable in place will likely break when removing old cable, be prepared to find new clips (Honda) or rig something else up.

I am always trepidatious of Dorman products, but the mechanical simplicity of this is hard to go wrong with. Directly fit and replaced a broken cable in a 1996 Honda Civic. Installation was a moderate pain due to having to route it through the fender well and past the condenser, though replacing this along with the hood latch only took about 1.5 hours.

I actually had to purchase this item twice, which is partially my own fault. The hood release cable broke the day I bought my 96 civic from a family friend back in January. I bought this item almost immediately afterward as a replacement but I procrastinated until there was a warmer day to do the work. The way mine broke I couldn't simply pull the cable by hand to open the hood - I had to remove the front grill and then unbolt the hood latch to even open my hood (and I don't have a garage). Did the swap, and at the end while attaching the new one to the latch it broke just the same way the original did! I believe the plastic piece that slides in and anchors the cable to the latch gets very brittle in cold temperatures. By this time it had been too long to send back for refund or replacement.Waited until warmer weather to try that job again, so I had to buy a second... The plastic piece that seems to break easily could be aluminum instead and not break... Honda parts told me theirs had been modified from the original part, but couldn't confirm if this plastic piece had been changed to a stronger material, so in the end I just went with the least expensive option again - which was the Dorman. 3 stars because "it's okay". I would give 3 1/2 stars due to low price if I could.

I broke the hood release handle on my 1999 Honda Civic Si. You have to replace the entire cable assembly. This cable is a perfect replacement. Identical in every detail. Except one - the car silhouette was going one direction on my Honda handle, and the other direction on the Dorman part. Other than that, it is identical in every respect to the factory part.
