Got this to replace a faulty VVT (aka oil control valve) on a 2001 Toyota Avalon. I'd also recently replaced the one on the other side, so I'd become familiar with the symptoms and the engine codes on the OBD reader. On that particular car, replacement isn't too difficult and there are plenty of videos online explaining the easiest way to do the job.If you find yourself in a position to replace one of these, you might as well replace the other one as well to save yourself a little hassle later (and probably a couple bucks getting the full set).

It worked. It came in a parts box with proper label. The VVT Solenoid was wrapped in sealed plastic. It comes with a new bolt. I bought two, one part# 211, the other is 214. Check Engine light and Traction Off light both turned off after new part installed. Car is running better than ever. Took about 45 minutes to change both solenoids. Hardest part is being patient - the electrical part is old and brittle. Arrived early and together.

Make sure you clean the filter under the solenoid. Remove the round nut slightly on the inside below the solenoid and carefully remove the strainer basket. I had to replace spark plugs, PVC valve, fuel injectors, coils, crankshaft position sensor, both left and right camshaft position sensors, both passenger side and driver side, inside and out VVT soleniods, fuel pump and filter. All codes cleared themselves. Multiple cylinder misfires, crankshaft, camshaft, lots of etc extra codes finally gone. Ordered everything for my 2002 Lexus ES300 from Amazon, 260,000 miles, runs like new.

I have had both of my original VVT solenoids on my 1999 Lexus ES 300 fail within a year, which does not seem to be uncommon, hence the recommendation to replace both the left and right bank at the same time.Purchased these out of convenience and price. Was able to have Amazon deliver them quickly and the price is reasonable. As seems to be the case with cheaper replacements, the build quality of the shaft doesn't seem as sturdy as the stock parts. I am hoping that this doesn't cause issues in the future, but my first Dorman VVT solenoid has so far lasted 10,000 miles. The right one is definitely more challenging to access than the left I previously replaced. I have very little automotive experience, but with some study and care, this is a very doable do-it-yourself replacement.Though not as costly as stock parts, sometimes I wonder how different, quality-wise, these Dorman really are from the other Chinese manufactured VVT solenoids. I wasn't about to find out and try cheaper offerings, simply not worth playing around with something like this. If I had more time (and another vehicle) I might have gone for a genuine part, but I feel comfortable with my decision to go with these Dorman.

These VVT worked good but they don't fit all the way down because the bolt down clamp has a slight bend to it and the factor one goes straight out. It hits the corner of the head. You can try to bend it for a better fit but I was Leary of doing that and damaging the vvt. After installation I didn't see a leak but it did not fit as well as the oem VVT.

Had a P1354 code on a 2000 Lexus ES300. Every now and again the car would lurch violently and downshift. After much research I traced the problem to this part. Took about an hour to replace both of these. Both oil screens were clean as a whistle. Vehicle ran perfectly after, but much to my chagrin the P1354 code came back and remained for about 75 miles. I think the ECM finally figured out that the solenoid wasn't malfunctioning any longer and the light went out and hasn't come back since. Got both of these for the same price as one at the local aap store. There is a great thread at club lexus with pictures showing how to do the replacement.
