This trans cooler is very high quality. I bought this to upgrade my 2003 F250 5.4 transmission cooler. This trans cooler is made in China but it looks great and the quality is definitely as good as OEM. It fits perfectly using the factory mounting points and bolts. You do need some larger diameter washers for the bottom mounts. You will see a large decrease in the fluid temp since it's almost 3 times larger. It's easy to install and can be replaced fully from the top just by removing the hood latch, a/c condenser brackets and radiator cover, but it is hard to get to everything that way. I like everything out of my way so I removed the bumper bar under the truck, the power steering cooler, grill, headlights, headlight/grill bracket and upper radiator support bar so I could fold the a/c condenser up on top of the engine without unhooking the a/c hoses. It takes longer this way but you can get to everything easily. You will need at least 3 feet of 1/2 hose and 3/8 to 1/2 hose adapters to install on earlier trucks like my 2003. I used the Gates 27065 hose. It's the perfect amount and is great quality hose. My cooler was damaged at the lower bracket but it was still useable so check yours very well for actual tube damage before installing. Also I noticed as I was pulling the rubber plugs off the cooler inlets that there was a vacuum in the cooler. You should hear the vacuum release as you pull off the first plug. If you hear the vacuum release you know that you have a good cooler that will not leak. I highly recommend this cooler. It is great for towing or performance applications!!

Installed in a 2001 Ford F250 SD, my trans temps reached 180 degrees and up, and front seal of the 4R100 trans starts dripping on exhaust. Bad design, but a whole lot of work to get at a $12 seal. I heard about these 6.0 trans coolers, and it bolted right in. My engine is gas, 5.4 l, after install, my trans temps only reach 150 if idling in stop and go, on the move, they are steady at 140 all day long, very happy with this upgrade

I used this to replace the much smaller transmission cooler in my 2003 Ford F-250 6.8L Triton V10. It's a little tricky to replace but not because of the bigger size of the new cooler--it's just a really tight space. I routinely pull a travel trailer that's a little too much for my truck and the trans would overheat on steep grades on a hot day, but now the needle on the trans temp gauge never even quite reaches the middle.

I had to get a replacement after Amazon treated the first one like it was firewood and bent it up. Not sure what they actually did, as it was well packed from Doorman with thick cardboard and plenty of foam blocks.Installed in a 90s F350 with 7.3L. Did take a bit of work to get it to fit well, but don't believe it was anything to do with this cooler in specific. Some of the youTubes vidoes made it seem like it was almost "bolt in", but it took me the better part of a day fabbing a bottom mount and spacers for it to sit correctly and not rub into the radiator. Non A/C truck, so maybe that's the difference, I'm not sure.I needed 1/2" to 5/16" barb fittings and some 1/2" hose to go from the Ford rubber lines to the cooler fittings. Some info online claimed Ford used 3/8" hose, not sure, but my truck didn't.

These 6.0L coolers are a popular upgrade on the older 7.3 powerstroke trucks that came with tiny coolers on them. I read up some on doing the conversion and I know from years in the industry that Dorman makes good parts so I bought this one. For the 7.3 install I drilled the rivets to remove the bottom brackets because they won't fit between the ac condensor and raditor. Side from that, I slipped it right in between the two and it bolts right in on the bottom radiator side mount holes. Easy peasy. I plumbed this cooler in first so my transmission fluid flow comes hot from the transmission, through this cooler, then through the small stock cooler that is at the very front of the grill and stays coolest, and then back to the transmission. After pulling my 26' travel trailer 100 miles through hills, I can still put my hand on the outlet side of this cooler without burning myself, so I know it works good. My old tiny cooler would instantly steam water off if I poured water on it after a pull like that. This cooler works great, and I'm happy with the fit and finish as well. Would recommend this cooler for the 7.3 upgrade.

So much better than the stock 7.3 trans cooler. Bolted right up to my 99 f350 7.3. Transmission barely crested 200 degrees on hard uphill pull with 7500 lb trailer. Mishimoto is double the price when you get a quality on for half. Shipped in great condition. Lots of protection and not a single bent fin.

I was seeing the temps on my transmission exceed 200 degrees while towing our travel trailer on 90+ degree summer days. I researched solutions to death, and kept reading on the Ford forums that this cooler was the solution. I found plenty of positive reviews on the forums for the Dorman 6.0 cooler and figured I'd give it a shot.I waited to review this until I had towed the travel trailer a few times, and I have to say I'm very happy ! Towing temps never got above the low 180S.This cooler is huge compared to the cooler that came off my 2001 7.3 Excursion. This bolted onto the truck using existing holes. I did have to make up a pair of 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch reducers from the local home improvement store, which cost about $16 for both sides of the cooler. Also, you will need a section of 1/2 inch transmission cooler hose. All in all, an easy mod that is a great improvement at a very affordable price. Personally, I wouldn't bother with an OEM cooler at nearly three times the price.
