this part was the correct replacement part for my 2008 Mini Cooper (base model). Directions could have added a note to NOT remove the metal clip - the hydraulic hose to the slave cylinder just gets pressed into the clip, which opens until it hits the groove in the hose gasket. Should have also added a note that being a contortionist to get under the driver's side dash and able to work blind to get the nuts off the bracket are requirements.

Due to the cast iron body construction, the "hall effect" clutch/starter sensor that clips on has trouble reading the magnetic motion of the clutch internals, thus making it difficult to start the car. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of removing it, returning it, purchasing another one, and installing it again, so i ended up attaching a neo magnet to the sensor location with caused it to read "clutch is pressed down" all the time, which allowed me to start the car regardless of whether or not the clutch is pressed down. Just have to make sure it's in neutral before starting the car :)
