I bought this for a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. It had been installed for about 3 months now with no issues. The install would be the same no matter which hose you buy.

This hose is not the same size as the OEM hose for 1996 Ford Explorer.The Banjo bolt side is about 1mm smaller than Ford OEM and will cause brake fluid leaks with 1.5mm thick copper washers and prevents correct brake bleeding.The only way I can see using this hose on 1996 Ford Explorer is to use two 2mm thick copper washers (non-standard) for the banjo bolt. Please note that the washers shipped with this hose are close to 1mm thickness (smaller than Ford OEM).I had the brake leak and bleed failure checked by a ASE Master Mechanic and he found and measured the size difference.He reinstalled the Ford OEM flexible hose with 1.5mm thick copper washers and "PROBLEM SOLVED"

I replaced all of the brake lines on my Explorer rear axle (which is installed on a Ranger) due to rust using this line on the passenger side (Dorman H380376 for the driver side).The part was cheap, a direct fit, and has been standing up to the abuse.Anyone doing a Ford Explorer 8.8 axle swap in another vehicle should pick this up.
