If you’re dealing with a broken key, this solution is not only effective but also budget-friendly! I successfully used it on my 2011 Nissan Pathfinder, which had a damaged keyhole. With just a razor blade, I easily created a small opening at the bottom for the key to fit through. This simple fix is quick to implement and can save you from the high costs associated with key replacement. Don’t let a broken key hold you back—this solution works like a charm!

I was able to glue back the broken key ring piece with Gorilla Glue, but went ahead and ordered this piece for piece of mind. Super easy to install and works great!

I have a 2016 Nissan Frontier and was issued three keys with it. When I broke the second one, the slip rings, (hard plastic I guess and easy to break), I called the dealer and, after checking the VIN, he said that they had the key in stock and to let him know and he'd cut and program it at a cost of $83. He then stated that the cost to match the key to the vehicle--or vice-versa?--would cost three hundred dollars and, of course, had to be done at the shop. My wife suggested Amazon for a cap or something and I happened to see the review enlarged of the fellow who gave it a one rating, but then changed his mind. Anyhow, I used the band saw to cut off the broken "horns," (overkill, but I had one); lightly sanded the area and rounded it off for a good fit; carefully cut a small slit in the bottom with my Swiss Army Knife; carefully and slowly inserted the metal part of the key in the slot; formed the front and back sides of the rubber border over the key; and put it back on my key ring. I just ordered two more. Oh yeah: An added advantage, for an older person, I guess, is that the cover for the part is made from soft rubber, making it very easy to hold onto; and, even if I drop it, it'll just bounce!!
