Maybe a little pricey for what it is, but it's a solid aluminum dovetail for telescope stuff. It's got plenty of areas for attaching a wide variety of things to it. It came with just 2 screws for some reason, and they were not the same length. I don't care because I wasn't expecting screws, but it just seems odd that it comes with 2 different screws.

Cut it to whatever length you need, drill as needed to fit your scope brackets and you’re in business. Solid aluminum, machines and drills with ease.

I have a family member with a telescope that is missing the hardware necessary to mount a finder scope. This is typically done with a dovetail system. The intent is to facilitate the finder scope mounting by rebuilding the "Vixen dovetail" using this product. At the same time, I had ordered a dovetail base labelled as compatible with Vixen-style dovetails.Apparently there are Vixens, and then there is "vixen-style".... Not necessarily one in the same.The good: This is one very solid piece. It is well machined out of what feels to be a a single block of aluminum. This one is a little larger than I'd anticipated leaving it more versatile to larger or heavier items.The bad: Nothing really comes to mind, other than the aforementioned mismatch with its intended counterpart. That isn't attributable to this item, however.The bottom line: I expect that this dovetail will outlast the next ice age. I would also expect to pay about two as much for a dovetail of this caliber.

Reviewed: Dovetail Bar for Vixen-Style Mounts Length 8.97″ (228 mm) Dovetail Rail Mounting Plate for OTA Equatorial Tripod, Astronomical Telescope Equatorial Dovetail AdapterThis is a great value compared to the only other similar one available right now at almost 1/2 price. It is finished well and works well. My only gripe is the long slot should be broken up to prevent the bolt from opening up the slot, it is very weak without a rib splitting it up.-1 star for not breaking up the center slot, no functionality would have been lost by breaking it at the weak section. See red marks in the picture.

A previous reviewer mentioned this fit their Meade 8 SCT perfectly. It does not mount to the LX50 series unfortunately. Still 5 stars for build quality and the added mounting hardware.

this is the fourth one I bought for a Meade 8" SCT. Holes line up perfectly.

Nicely machined and finished.My dovetail clamp is smooth, so I cannot comment on hardness of the finish.
