I have tried other anti-bark devices and none have worked. A vibrating collar worked for about 15 days and she learned to ignore it. She is far to reactive to use a "shock" collar. I think she would go into an absolute panic. However, this has worked and continues to work. My pup loves to wait at the front window until a delivery vehicle, trash truck, or other commercial vehicle goes by, she will then run from one end of the house to the other barking her fool head off. With the collar on she will give a partial bark and march from one end of the house to the other to watch the truck go by. I don't have to put it on her every day. But, as soon as she starts getting bold, the dollar goes on. It has made a big difference in the barking and running through the house like a crazy dog. Sometimes I can put this collar on her and not turn it on and she knows what she has on and won't bark. As I indicated earlier, she is very reactive to negative stimulation so this may not produce the desired result on a more aggressive "stubborn" dog.I have had to replace the battery once and recharge to spray several times. But, it has been well within what I would expect. I have seen some reviews where people complain that it gives a spritz of the spray when you turn it on. However, I don't know how you would ever know that the spray needs to be refilled if it didn't do that. It is easy to refill and only takes a few seconds to do that, so I don't see it as a negative. As a matter of fact, about 2 weeks after I started using the collar, she started barking through it and I thought she was ignoring it. However, the next day when I put it on her it was empty and I wouldn't have know if it didn't give a short spritz when turned on. As long as I keep a good battery and plenty of spray in it all is good. So even 3 months later it still works on her

Beware! Worked one time then nothing. I purchased this collar in hopes it would stop my dog barking while I was gone. It worked beautifully the first time used it with my dog. Then, because I was going to be gone quite a while, I tested it and put it on her. After the test, nothing. I was careful to turn the unit off so that the battery would be current. I took the battery out, blew into the microphone and nothing. I would not recommend this collar to anyone.

This device is great and the price is fantastic. I had the more expensive brand PetSafe and similar style collar but I lost it and I didn't want to buy their newly designed citronella collar that uses disposable refill cartridges at $5 each; that adds up quickly. It's too bad PetSafe abandoned this design that allows you to get a spray can to refill the collar when necessary and it lasts a long time. So I'm really glad I found this collar, the price, build, and quality is quite great (it's very similar to the previously owned PetSafe collar that has now been discontinued in favor of the replaceable-spray-cartridge collar). The only reason I'm not giving this collar 5 stars is the fact that it sprays 1 time every time you flip the power switch on. I guess this is supposed to be a test spray to confirm that the collar is "on" and working, but it's such a waste of citronella spray considering a fully charged unit has about 15 sprays before it needs a refill. The whole point of the on/off switch is to help you save the battery life, but it will do the opposite when it comes to helping you save the citronella spray. So, by design, you either waste the battery life or you waste the spray in the chamber; you can't extend the life of both; just one or the other.Fortunately, my dog has learned to not bark once the bark collar is placed around its neck, and I don't have to turn it on most of the time. But once in a while my dog will go for it and try to bark, so if I want to make sure it doesn't bark in the middle of the night and wake everybody up, I have to turn it on and waste that one spray. It's a really silly and frustrating design flaw considering how easy it is to test it and confirm that it's working by just blowing into it.If the manufacturer ever upgrades and corrects the design, I'd like to also suggest that they make the label for "on" and "off" easier to read; the font it's very very small and white on light yellow which is hard to read, I had to use a black marker to make it clear. Just silly design flaws.
