A great price for what it is: a base unit plus extension. A lot of heavy iron(though tripod base is weak).Wheels(narrow, cheap swivel) and base(thin metal, flexes so that have to move individual arms and not whole unit) are of mediocre quality making moving it around awkward. Always a bad sign when safety warnings on side of device are not correct English: use "broke" and "broken" to refer to brake!(although backup brake is largely useless and may be considered as broken even when new)As expected for something of this bulk and weight, this needs assembly for use and is take apart for storage.Vertical piece inserts into base. I think they tried to copy a properly designed unit but did not understand how it was supposed to work! Top connection is two slots sliding into iron sleeve. Bottom connection is base sliding into "V" groove. Problem is that bottom not long enough to reach "V" groove! As a result, this hangs dangerously at top connection. I used fiberglass reinforced Packing tape to tightly wrap vertical post to base and was careful not to allow excessive sideways stress on post. Without precautions, this defective design invites catastrophic failure if sideway stress moves to far and causes top slot to fail (metal not strong enough to handle bending stress)Still a great value for occasional use if willing to deal with awkwardness. Still have not used full height extension. This likely to be more dangerous given a small tilt will apply a lot more stress on the tape holding the vertical part upright. It should be noted that while it looks to be designed for longer drywall sheets, manual says it is only for 4'x8' sheets!

Works great.I Have been drywalling the inside of my garage with it.By myself I use it for ceiling and upper wall.Im 60 years old would never have been able to do it without it.This makes it easy.Hardest part was lifting those 5/8 thick sheets onto lift. For bottom sheets I use Marshalltown pl589 panel lift.

My husband loved this product! Several of his friends came by to see it and they were all amazed at the tool and the way the product worked! Totally worth it!

I purchased this hoist mainly due to the fact it included an extension allowing it to reach a maximum height of 15 ft. Having a vaulted ceiling with 14 ft to the peak this thing worked a miracle and allow me to hang 4x12 sheets by myself. The installation of the extension was not complicated like of the reviews scared me of but be sure to hang your lower ceilings before installing the extension for taller ceilings.

A lot of people complained about the instructions. I can't respond to that because I have never read them. I put it together in about ten minutes without the instructions. If you are struggling with putting this together then maybe you should hire the project done because that is the easy part. I have never used one of these before but they are awesome. No more back breaking dangerous work and I can hang Sheetrock by myself

Like the other poster, I received product in a timely manner and as advertised. Although no tools were required the manual was worthless. I needed a magnifiing glass to read them. The picture in front of the box was more usefull and figured it out in about 10 min. With that said this is a nice product and worked well. Pretty stable as I was hanging 4x12 sheets on the wall. I have not used the extender yet and started with walls, since I have to cut the cable off to put the new extender on. No sense cutting off something unless you need toWell designed product but the package was bad. How do you ship a product that weights 100 lbs with alot of hard corners and not properly pad it??!! Box was all torn up but I have to admit that everthing was there and intact.I think that this is a great value.

received product in a timely manner and as advertised, no tools were required to assemble."but", ordered 6' extension which arrived at the same time main package did. after assembling tool it was time to add extension into the mix. was surprised to find no directions anywhere in the empty packaging, took a good look at mechanism and cable system which appeared to be a little complicated but can be figured out eventually. called company tool was shipped from and person answering phone was aware of no instructions situation, asked if instructions could be found on line somehow and was told no, and to lay extension on flat ground to achieve extension change over. the cable pulley system looks a little complicated for this tool and i would have felt better adding extension after having found instructions somewhere. there was also a cable splice included with packaging which once you see the operating system you'll know immediately this system cannot be spliced as cable splice part would suggest, thus, another reason for instructions. i will use this tool in it's present capacity to install drywall at an 8 to 10 foot level, but have a future 15 foot section where extension will be needed. i fully expect to have to fully disassemble tool in order to achieve this and anticipate purchasing a new length of1/8" steel cable to complete.if i'm wrong anywhere in my analysis of this tool it's because there were no instructions for extension so, sorry to the shipper. now you know, do something about it. so, to be fair. this tool is sturdy enough to do the intended job. it's just there is little or no support from the shipper who is well aware of the lack of instructions for the extension part of this package.
