Drill America Carbide Tipped Annular Cutters are designed for fast, efficient hole making and cut only that material necessary to produce a quality hole. The carbide tips allows for fast drilling of larger diameter holes with longer life and the ability to perform in more abrasive and harder materials than high speed cutters. Sometimes called mag drills or magnetic drill bits, Drill America Annular cutters have a 3/4" Weldon Shank for use with magnetic drill press only. Do not use this cutter with a standard hand drill or drill press. Pilot pin included.

Don't know what is expected but I was able to get about 28 holes cored through 1/2" mild steel before the cutter gave up. A magnetic drill along with cutting fluid was used. I was hoping for better results.

While this is a perfectly adequate HSS annular cutter, I paid for a carbide tipped cutter. This is a ground (no carbide tips brazed on) HSS cutter. If I wanted that I would've bought one for less money.I did drill 14 holes in 1" mild steel no problem but the product received is not the product advertised.

Carbide teeth sintered into a seemingly well made dimensionally accurate drill bit. 9/16" diameter drill bit, fed through 1" thick mild steel plate for a table mounted vice. We used a Hougen magnetic base drill. Motor oil was used as cutting fluid. All the carbide teeth broke off at only ½" to 5/8" depth within 30 seconds. My next selection will be a bit comprised of high speed steel, same price.

Please read description. You get carbide tipped cutter, not HSS as in the picture.
