I bought theses to replace two others I had. The old ones didn't have drainage holes and in heavy rain would fill up with water and bulge on the sides. I also like the color of these better than the old ones that were terra cotta.

Great little planters. Fit railing snug. Seem strong and durable but only time will tell. As you can see ended up buying 3 for mini veggie garden out of the reach of the deer!

Sits well on my vinyl rails. A little more room for soil than the older ones, which is good. Look Great!

This was a great planter. I put it on the front porch rail and filled it with flowers. It fits snugly on the rail and doesn't blow off. It has holes so the flower box drains nicely. It's deep enough for many types of plants. If anything happens to it, I'll replace it with another one. I ordered the bronze color and it goes nicely with my beige house and brown porch. I recommend to any one that wants to have flowers on the rail. Oh, I almost forgot it's built to fit a thin rail and a wide rail.

We now have four of these rail planters. They are sturdy and have good depth. They are terrific for flowers and vegetables/herbs (e.g., radishes, carrots, leaf lettuce, dill, parsley). Growing vegetables and herbs at deck railing height is convenient and it keeps everything out of reach of the rabbits.

These are nicely designed but if you use it without heavy content/soil, it WILL blow off the railing in a moderate breeze - my wife put (for the fall/winter) some silk plants in these with foam base and it blew off the deck twice now - the good news is neither time did it break or ding from a 14' fall to the grass -The worst thing about these planters? THE STICKERS are VERY difficult to remove - why is it necessary to use security grade glue on these stickers - took an hour to remove all the stickers from 3 of these... ridiculous!

These were a great neutral color, blending well with the stain on my deck, and letting the colors of the flowers pop. They fit securely on the rail, (mine is 4"), and even filled, I was able to lift them up without assistance. After seeing them, two neighbors decided to find some for themselves. They look sturdy enough to last for a number of seasons. These are hard to find in local big box stores or gardening centers, and the price from Amazon was better than some other online sources.

I had looked everywhere locally for a planter with a similar design because I used them over a decade ago. My herbs were being destroyed when in the ground by voles. Those little pests devour the roots of everything. Who knew voles would eat chives? I found a deck rail planter with coconut fiber as the liner and not only did they not fit my rails properly and have to be tied, but the herbs had to be watered more than once daily to live. In the south, an exposed coco-fiber bottom will just not cut it. These pots have much more space for root expansion, they do not require constant watering because they are solid bottomed, they are very stable on the porch rails and they are not leaving rust marks on my vinyl covered railing. For my use they are perfect.
